Hello,
Today Google is celebrating the 150th birthday of Ludovic Lazarus
Zamenhof, and this is apparently important to people because he has
created the language of Esperanto. Esperanto was a language that
linguists just simply created one day without anyone actually using
the language, and to match L. L. Zamenhof’s creation in language he
also was involved in early Zionism and Yiddish grammar. Zamenhof was
even able to translate the entire Hebrew scripture into his made up
language that only a few experts whom studied the language that he
created could understand, Zamenhof died on April, 14 1917 and I do not
expect him to be risen from the dead to the living any time soon if at
all.
Zamenhof’s entire family did not live through the holocaust as a
result of efforts to exterminate Jews. Zamenhof made a religious work
entitled Homaranismo meaning humanitarianism. What is believed is
that his work models that of Hillel whom was the early creator of the
Mishnah and the Talmud. Hillel exemplified the golden rule that
Christ exemplifies of doing onto others as we would have them do unto
us, but the difference is that Hillel (according to my understanding)
favors this over loving God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and
strength (I could be inaccurate about this point).
Hillel is understood to be a ancestor of Gamaliel the Elder whom is
also associated with the Mishnah. Gamaliel is understood to be the
educator of Saint Paul (Acts 22:3) and a perdominate member of the
Sanhedrin, and the New Testament gives the following account of him
diverting the wrath of the Jews, "Having brought the apostles, they
made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high
priest. "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he
said. " Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are
determined to make us guilty of this man's blood." Peter and the
other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! The God of
our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging
him on a tree. God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and
Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to
Israel. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit,
whom God has given to those who obey him." When they heard this, they
were furious and wanted to put them to death. But a Pharisee named
Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people,
stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for
a little while. Then he addressed them: "Men of Israel, consider
carefully what you intend to do to these men." Acts 5:27-35 (NIV)
Overall, the point to be made is that yes Gamaliel whom came from
Hillel was instrumental as a member of the Sanhedrin both in educating
Saul in the law of Moses and in diverting the wrath of the Jews from
killing Peter, but both Saint Peter and Saint Paul took the divine
command of proclaiming the good news to heart as derived from the
greatest commandment of loving God with all of our heart, mind, soul,
and strength.
What is believed by some scholars is that Gamaliel was baptized by
Saint Peter and Saint John and that he remained a member of the
Sanhedrin while being secret about his baptism. The point to be made
is that if this was true then Gamaliel would have the godly quality of
loving God with his heart, mind, soul, and strength even though he did
not publicly proclaim Christ or identify himself as a Christian, and
his works and his testimony regarding Christ would have testified to
his salvation. Overall, the point to be made in this is that Gamaliel
demonstrates godly works that bare testimony to his faith.
Ludovic Lazarus Zamenhof however is not like Gamaliel because he goes
so far as to promote humanitarianism, make a language that may in fact
have little to no value for anyone except for those whom favor
fruitlessness, and translate the entire Hebrew Bible into that
language that he himself manufactured. I thus suppose that it is true
that a humanitarian vision could be achieved through all mankind
withdrawing from one another and from God while making a bunch of
stuff up to entertain one another and make one another feel important
because of their accomplishments that are rather self serving, but the
truth is that unless we love God first and intercede for man second
through investing the love of God we might as well be like Ludovic
Lazarus Zamenhof whom went so far as to make up his own language for
the sake of translating the Hebrew scripture (as if the Hebrew
scripture wasn’t enshrouded enough in language and Holy mystery).
Overall, despite the fact that Google believes this to be the happy
150th birthday of Ludovic Lazarus Zamenhof instead I fear that he may
now even regret the day that he was born as a result of the eternal
dwelling that both his faith and his works appear to have granted him
(although I could be wrong).
Thank you,
