Hi All

Niki and I brain stormed ideas last night and want your input on this years theme.  We have also contemplated putting it out on Facebook. Maybe even as a contest. But I also don't want people thinking we don't have our act together by not having a theme selected. So let me know your thoughts on that as well.

Ok ideas:

Donut Run...

(it's and actual theme done elsewhere) sounds weird but it's like a reward for running and strangely popular. :).

Pros:  Encourages Family Friendly
Con: cost of donuts

Flower Power/Tie Dye  Run...
Order white Running shirts spray w food color

Pros: like the very popular color run

Cons: more volunteers to spray people as they run.

Soldier Run....
People can dress in military or camo
Possible camo face painting

Pros: TBI is most common w military and will promote the goal of proper testing and outreach program. Which is where I am focusing anyway.  I can't stand getting these calls and not being able to offer that free to them.

Con:  Will need to make sure they are aware we are NOT affiliated w government  programs
(Although IBRF does have a grant from the military) that funding is for Jessica AND awareness/sponsor program.

Trick or Treat Run..
Wear any costume and get candy at stations. Costume Contest

Pros:  Halloween stores are usually open by then.
Most people have costumes they'd love to wear again.

Cons:  Run is in September not October :)

Super Fan Run:
Runners wear their favorite team Jerseys etc

Pros: Easy to do and most people have a favorite team of some sort.

Cons: Not super unique or enticing if not a runner.

Rock N Roll Run:
Dress as favorite Rock Band or Rocker or Simple Rock Shirt

Pros: Easy to dress up
Cons: May not be exciting enough?

Puppy Dog or Pet Run:  Dress up as a pet and/or bring your dog.
Dog bowls of water and treats provided.

Pros: People are always looking for a way to show off their dog and/or run w them.

Easy to do w face painting available.

Cons: Serious runners may get annoyed (although will go first)

possible dog fights

Run for the border Run:

We will dress as border patrol.

Runners will dress in ponchos and sombreros.
Have obstacle course as they scale walls,
Get documentation at each station and must provide documents at finish line.

Fruit stands available at end of Run!

Taco Bell Table.

Pros: Very Fun, Will make the news gaining awareness.

Cons: Lives threatened and protesters.

Bahahahaha!  Just kidding!!  Thought Niki would love that one 😜

Love you!!

Although I would love to bring my dog, people are dumb and will bring their dogs that are aggressive and have no business being there. Also if someone gets bit we are opening ourselves up to major liability.

In this political climate I wouldn't touch that border theme with a ten foot pole. We don't want to take a chance and alienate any potential donors.

We have to clean up after the run, so spray painting along the run sounds messy to me and will probably turn into a cluster f. Plus the cost of the food coloring.  I'm sure it would take a lot to really make any kind of color change.

For a theme I think the Rock and Roll one might be easy for everyone. We can blast music, get some blow up guitars, some people might dress like 80's hair bands. Lisa can dress like KISS!

Or Superhero, kids can wear capes, etc. but people probably don't have that stuff at home like they do a band t-shirt.

The boarder patrol one was a very, very, very bad joke. What about the doughnut run?

Do flower power where they dress up like hippies. They don't need to be sprayed

I second the Super Hero! Fun, positive, and can connect in a good way. Plus this helps with t-shirt concepts :0)! My #1.

Also like rock and roll, but perhaps too close to 80s where everyone cut up our shirts and wore side ponytails! Haha. Could ensure theme was well explained to avoid 80's interpretation I suppose.

I do like flower power as I'm
a bit of a closet hippy myself (but in no way liberal, just like Birkenstocks, no makeup and bra burning concepts :0)...), I think this would bring out the cra-cra's in this climate unfortunately. However, we may make the local news, so bad press could be good press once Lisa explains to the world the "real" reason for this event.  Haha.

Note.. our permit does not include animals, so in the event minds were headed here, it's a complete no go unless we modify our permit application, pay additional insurance, other fees, and I'm sure more; therefore, the paperwork lady gives a big veto to this :0).

Donut run confuses me, but if this means leaving our existing starting point and running elsewhere off our route - depending on where they run to - we are required to modify the route map and application already submitted, hire police, block
streets, additional insurance, so as much as I love me a donut, veto.

Military I love, although may be too soon and misinterpreted given our current climate. We may get a bunch of freaks and protesters (aka stupid people who could hurt our effort/goal).

We are all booked for 9/9, and I need to start planning shirts, so timing on this is impeccable.

Can we set up a meeting perhaps?

Xoxo ~ KC

There is another super hero run in the area in November that has been going on for several years involving firefighters, Valley Medical center,  and a few others. I really like this them too, but it seems like not the best idea given the other run.

Hi Team

Flower power!

Sometimes people just want to run and there doesn't need to be too much put into  a theme. I know it's a fun and helps but It's  a fundraiser for a very worthy cause.
Sorry I'm  a donna downer tonight. Just my thoughts I'll ask some friends who run for causes what draws them and their families out.
😘

Good catch Nic! What about an Aloha run and make it all about fun in the sun. We can get those cheesy plastic lei's and lei people when they cross the first line.

I like the Hawaiian theme! People can wear Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and the dollar store usually has decorations!

Also. Trent offered to be "Donut Man" if you still want to include that.

Like "Bring your kids to meet "donut man" for the kids run reward. Something like that.

Yah that still doesn't bother me.  There are a ton of these Super Hero runs and they are not linked to each other. If you Google super hero run there was one in Feb also. If anything it could help if someone hears there is a super hero run and they Google it, it will bring up ours also. So if the date works better for them than great. Visa Versa what our marketing will do for them.
