Pipeline plugin requires knowing the Jenkins API?

Hello everybody!

I am late to finding out about 2.0, great news! The pipeline plugin seems to get a more prominent place and I have some trouble with using it... There are some simple tasks that require a plugin for a freestyle job, but now can be done much more straightforwardly. For example, currentBuild.setDescription(). My problem is that I need to know the name of the variable and the API to use it. Suddenly, I need to know the insides of Jenkins. Me, I can learn (though much better documentation and support should be available, IMHO), but not all our users that configure builds are programmers.

Am I confused, or is there really a problem here?
