can't get periodic script to run

I must be doing something really simple and wrong, but I create a
simple jenkins project to run a simple shell script that will echo
"hello world" and when I run the job the script never runs. The build
status is simply:
No changes.

Of course, there are no changes - there is nothing to do but run a
script. What am I doing wrong? thanks in advance

Greetings,
Click the 'Console' link on the left while you are in the last run
instance, e.g. http://jenkins/job/YourJobName/lastBuild/console
