Jenkins upgrade testing?

Is there any generic way to predict if a jenkins upgrade will break
something out of a large set of jobs managed by a bunch of different
people? I have a test instance and can try a few things there, but I
don't want the side effects of actually running other people's jobs
that may alter release build numbers or copy files to other systems,
etc.
