Hi,

We are in the process of setting up a rather large farm of jenkins masters and i am seeking opinion on upgrade strategies.

The upgrade refers to upgrading jenkins or any of the plugins.

Assuming that all masters are identical - Is it a feasible approach to execute the upgrade on one machine and then copy the complete jenkins directory to all the other machines. I am trying to avoid the scenario of executing upgrades on each machine and battling issues on a per machine basis.

Are there details i am missing? Thoughts?

Regards,
Rahul

I'd just go with one of the linux packaged versions and use the
package manager for updates as you do with the OS/distribution
packages. And use the LTS version. Any issues will most likely
involve plugins that change their data formats or APIs. Some will do
their own conversions, some won't - but that part is not predictable
enough to plan out ahead of time.
