Hello.
So I'm completely new to Jenkins and I never used a CI server before. I'm
using perforce as a VCS, and I'd like to use it with jenkins.
I've read the wiki about Perforce Plugin and the how-to create a new job,
but I still have some problems.
We will be 3 using Jenkins, so I don't want to use my IDs to login from
Jenkins to Perforce. It means I haven't created any workspace etc.
1) I don't have any idea of what I'm supposed to write in the fields below
"password"
Here is what I did for now, but I always have the red text. "Unable to check
workspace against depot"
http://i.imgur.com/MUGYstH.png

2) The project I need to build is coded in VB6. I know Jenkins can do it
with Shells, but I didn't find any tutorial to do it and I find it far from
intuitive. Do you know how to do it?

Thank you.

I may be able to help with the Perforce question, but not now to build VB.
The workspace (client) field should just be a name that you want to use for the perforce workspace.  It should not be a path.  Because you have the boxes checked to let Jenkins create and manage the workspace it should automatically create one for you.  Note by default it will change the name of the workspace by appending a number to the end of the name you specify.  So if you specify a workspace name of my_workspace it will be created as something like my_workspace-63730509.

The error "Unable to check workspace against depot" indicates the user/password is not valid.  Weather you use your login or some other login you must provide valid credentials to access the Perforce server.

Hello Mark,
I found where my problem was. In the plugin configuration it says to set the
p4path to the file which contains p4.exe, not the full path (aka
C:/fullpath/p4.exe).
When I added p4.exe in the path, it worked.
