reverting to 4.7.0 and it works again.

We are running git-4.7.1 without problems. Check that git-client-plugin  3.7.1 is also installed.

I've seen reports of that type of failure when the agent JDK was outdated or the agent.jar file was outdated.  I have the "Version Node Monitors" plugin installed on my Jenkins instance so that I can see the agent remoting versions and agent JVM versions that are connected to my controller.
