Hi all,

I have an idea for a Jenkins feature. Personally, I think it's a good idea, but—as is often the case with ideas—perhaps I'm the only one who does.

My idea:

Jenkins could change its favicon during a build. This would allow you to see the build status at a glance: Is the build currently running? Did it finish successfully or with an error?

This would be especially helpful when having multiple builds open in different tabs.

Is there a plugin for this?

What does you think?

Thanks for your replies.

Best regards

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

I like the concept. But this idea, if to be made to work, would need some way to clear the data in the browser that normally caches the favicon. Potentially, this limitation can be overcome in some way I guess, such that a dynamic favicon can provide the user info about the build status, like with: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/javascript/how-to-change-favicon-dynamically/

Best,
Kris Stern
