Hi All,

We are planning activities for the community booth at DW JW SF and are looking for the following volunteers:
  • Jenkins gurus for "Ask the Experts". This role is to help provide (Jenkins) tech support to attendees during the expo hours. Added bonus is you get to hang out with other Jenkins contributors.
  • Jenkins demos. The community booth will be showcasing 15 min demos during the lunch hours, we are accepting cool plugin or best practices demos. Can not be a product/marketing pitch.
Pls reach out to me directly if you're interested in the above.

Lastly, if you're attending the event, use "FOSS" for 30% discount.

thanks,
alyssa

Alyssa,
As discussed in our meeting, here is my demo titled and blurb:

Title: Sysdig Secure Jenkins Plugin

Sysdig Secure is a container security platform that brings together docker image scanning and run-time protection to identify vulnerabilities, block threats, enforce compliance, and audit activity across your microservices. The Sysdig Secure Jenkins plugin can be used in a Pipeline job, or added as a build step to a Freestyle job, to automate the process of running an image analysis, evaluating custom policies against images, and performing security scans.

Please also add me to “Ask the Expert
My area of expertise is plugin development and CICD in Kubernetes

Hi Alyssa

Here's my demo info:

Title: Using React for plugin UI

The working hours plugin has a date driven UI. During this summer's Google Summer of Code, our student rewrite the UI in React, so that we could take advantage open source modules such as calendar pickers. I'll talk about how the student approached the UI, demonstrate the UI and talk about particular challenges we faces.

Hi Lloyd,

1. That's great - Alyssa should be around next week to follow up on this

2. For CD Summit we've had one in Barcelona (blogplaylist) and one recently in China (videos going live now).
The next one will be CD Summit North America in San Diego, just before KubeCon NA. The CD Summit will be on Monday November 18th.
Planning for this will start soon - if you are interested in speaking or being part of program committee let me know. Likely we will discuss more via Jenkins Outreach & Advocacy SIG.

Regards,
Tracy

Hi Lloyd,

Thank you for your email. Would you be interested in being part of the Ask the Experts? If so, what are your area(s) of expertise specific to Jenkins?

Ask the Experts are staffed at the community booth within the expo hall. The booth is open during breakfast, lunch, breaks and evening receptions, outside of these times you are free to attend sessions. The purpose of Ask the Experts is to provide 1 on 1 help to answer Jenkins technical questions by conference attendees.  Lemme know if you'd like to proceed, if so - pls send me the above information.

Thnx,
alyssa

Hi Alyssa,

My expertise is Jenkins usage in regulated industries.  In addition, I can field questions about Jenkins Google Summer of Code from an organization administrator perspective.

1. Via meetup, I RSVP'd for the summit on Monday.

2. To volunteer for Ask the Experts, am I required to be at the contributor booth during breakfast, lunch, breaks, and evening receptions throughout Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday?

3. My time availability is limited on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday — This means I can stop by the contributor booth within the expo hall on an impromptu ad-hoc basis.

4. I didn't register to attend DevOps World | Jenkins World throughout Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

5. Do I need to register for the event to volunteer for Ask The Experts on an impromptu ad-hoc basis?

Please advise.

Thank you,
Lloyd

Alyssa,

I prepared a poster to promote Google Summer of Code, Google Season of Docs and Outreachy for Jenkins World in SF.

Questions:
  • Should I print on canvas or paper?
  • Is there a budget for the community booth for this poster?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi Alyssa and Tracy,

Any advice for my earlier questions to Alyssa sent on July 15th?

Minimally, I would like to know if I can attend following session in volunteer capacity without having registered for Jenkins World | DevOps World at all:

Thursday August 15, 2019

12:25 - 12:40pm Results from the 2019 Jenkins Google Summer of Code Martin d’Anjou

In 2019, the Jenkins project participated in the Google Summer of Code. This is an annual, international, program which encourages college-aged students to participate in open source projects during the summer break between classes. In 2019, we had dozens of applications and many student projects. In this session, we will showcase the students' projects and talk about what they bring to the Jenkins ecosystem.

Thank you,
Lloyd

Alyssa,

The poster is 120cm by 105cm (47 inches by 42 inches). I can resize if needed. We're only missing the QR code for a landing page on jenkins.io. The problem is we don't have a proper landing page yet.
We could print without a QR code and staple it later. Ugly but it would work.

Martin
