Jenkins 1.580.2 RC Testing

Hi,

New LTS candidate is out. Final release is scheduled to 2014-12-10. Help
us make sure all fixes ware delivered without introducing another
regressions!

Is there a way to make that available as a docker image so that my startup and recovery time from experimenting with the RC would be reduced?  Maybe it is already available and I don't know where to look?

No, as far as I know. Though, we would like to hear how people (would like to) do the LTS RC testing. So we can make that easier and hopefully attract more testers.

http://jenkins-ci.org/content/official-jenkins-lts-docker-image seems to hint that it might be a reasonable extension to add 1.580.2-RC to the list of available docker images.  Unfortunately, I'm still too docker illiterate to provide the pull request that would allow it.

I've been testing with a Windows installation, so the docker image wouldn't have helped in my specific tests.  The docker image would allow me to easily use my primary Ubuntu development machine to evaluate an LTS without harming the LTS Jenkins installation I run on it.

Of course this is easy without Docker, too:

JENKINS_HOME=/tmp/testing java -jar ~/Downloads/jenkins.war

Very good point, and so simple that it is not worth the trouble of configuring a Docker instance.  Thanks for the reminder!
