Today is the day that we should choose the next LTS baseline.  That LTS baseline will release 30 Oct 2024.  It will drop support for Java 11 and move Jenkins core from
I recommend Jenkins 2.477 as the LTS baseline for 30 Oct 2024.

Basil recommends either 2.476 or 2.477 as the LTS baseline in his Spring Security 6.x summary message.  I prefer 2.477 because it avoids a backport of one fix and includes several UI improvements.  I've seen no issues in my use of Jenkins 2.477.

Thanks, Mark
2.477 looks like the ideal candidate to me

What about 2.479? 2.478 only had minor changes (so minor that the changelog is empty), and 2.479 has only security fixes that need backporting anyway.

I think that is an excellent suggestion.  Wish I'd thought of that myself.  Tim Jacomb, are you OK if the LTS baseline is 2.479 instead of 2.477?

Since I'm about to start the 30 Oct 2024 LTS release checklist, the timing for this question is ideal.   I'll wait until tomorrow before starting the release checklist in hopes that 2.479 is agreed as the LTS baseline rather than 2.477.

Let’s go for 2.479
