I am failing consistently to release a version

In the past I have successfully uploaded plugin versions using "mvn release:prepare release:perform".

Today I have repeatedly failed with :

This happens towards the end of the process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This host name is obsolete (and has been for years, but now Tyler pulled the plug). Update to the plugins POM 2.6 or newer, or override the host to be used to point to repo.jenkins-ci.org.

Actually, it's not. Changing the wagon version won't help you anymore, as the host name has been removed. It's not HTTP 401 Unauthorized, but Connection refused now.

But unless you really know what you are doing and have no other
choice, just use the latest 2.x parent POM.
