BTW, check out UI Themes Plugin. It may make for a simpler (or at least more configurable) implementation.

My jenkins-ci.org name is "ovinn" also. 

I took a look at the UI Themes plugin as you suggested. It does look really promising but for now my attempt to try it failed (just error-ed on access) but from the video demo I hope it will grow to allow customization of the icon not just the icon hue/color if it doesn't already.
