Maven 4 pre-release version preview in ci.jenkins.io?

Hi,

As we (infra team) are preparing maven 3.9.12 upgrade campaign (cf https://github.com/jenkins-infra/helpdesk/issues/4949), we were wondering if there is a need for a maven 4 pre-release version preview in ci.jenkins.io, to  potentially test and experiment this new major version in advance on Jenkins Core and/or plugins.

Is this something of interest?

Since my guts tell me there is likely something going to break with our current Maven builds once Maven 4 drops I‘d say it’s important for us to be aware early and prepare ourselves.

+1 definitely we need to be prepared and fix thing on the parent poms as soon we can

Right now even a very simple API plugin with latest parent doesn't build with Maven 4 (something is wrong with artifact resolution)

We're using obsolete maven APIs in the maven-hpi plugin. This is likely the cause rather than the parent poms.

Theres a PR to review which I will try and look at but won't be next week.
