Dear JENESYS East Asia Future Leaders Programme alumni from Disaster Prevention and People I, Community Design, Climate Change, Disaster Prevention and People II, Social Welfare, and Energy Security Goup

Greetings from Tokyo in early summer! I hope that this finds you well in spirits.
We made a Google group mailing list for the past participants of above mentioned groups mainly to communicate regarding the follow up program.

On behalf of the Japan Foundation, I would like to inform you that follow up program of JENESYS is being prepared and that you will be invited to participate in a five-day study tour in Thailand, "Creating Together a Better World towards Human Security and Sustainability".  The event will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from July 24 to July 29, 2011. The program is organized by the Chulalongkorn University and the Japan Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The program will aim to offer a platform to discuss what the young leaders of East Asia can/should do to realize a sustainable society which consists of different social aspects.  Reflecting the Tohoku earthquake (and Tsunami) of Japan on March 11, discussions will touch upon not only natural but also manmade disasters/difficulties which entail topic of peace building, conflict resolution, peace building, community development, and human security.

You, as one of the past participants of the latest 6 groups, are invited to Bankok to gather, catch up, share their activities, and attend the 2nd follow-up program for meaningful dialogue among your international fellow mates.  The program outline has been developed, and JENESYS alumni will be asked for input and suggestions to be able to tailor the program to specific interests and issues.  More detailed objectives and itinerary will be sent out next week for more information.

As for the conditions of the trip, participants will be provided with accommodations, meals and all materials in Bangkok, arriving on July 24 and departing July 29 in the afternoon.  However, roundtrip airfare will NOT be included, so participants should shoulder the costs of their own flight from origin country to Bangkok, as well as their overseas travel insurance.

For the moment, this is the basic information and the organizers of Chulalongkorn University will provide more information as early as next week, together with application form to be submitted in return.  Meanwhile, I hope that this little information will help start thinking about possibility of your participation and coordinate your schedule of late July.

For any questions, please feel free to contact the organizing committee through; jenesys.f...@gmail.com

Dear All, :)

Best greetings from a Vietnamese participant in Sweden! :)

It's very nice to know about the reunion for all participants in Thailand. I'd love to come but unfortunately I can't :( I'm still living in Sweden and a 5-day-trip to Thailand is not possible for me at this moment. But I do hope that we can keep contact to share and learn from each other!

Have a good time in Thailand! And good luck to everyone! :)

Warmest,
Hien

Hi Ramil!

Great to hear from you!
Thank you for your inquiry.
We will be informing about this soon but the cost for VISA should be borne by each participants.

Please double-check with Thai Embassy in your country though, whether you need to apply for VISA, as those info tends to change often.  (We do have info that citizen of the Philippines does not require it. )

Thanks!

Hi Hisa,

Is there an extension for the submission of requirements prior to June 10? Sadly my passport had expired 4 days ago and it would take 15 - 20 days to process my passport renewal

Dear Mr. Ramil and Ms. Chanyaporn,

My name is Bundith Punsiri, an alumnus from Social Welfare Group in 2011. Another alumnus, Surasak, and I, together with Japan Foundation, Bangkok, are responsible for coordinating and organizing the 2nd follow-up program in Bangkok, Thailand.

First of all, nice to hear that you both are interested to participate in the program and I am looking forward to meet you both in person.

According to your question about the expiration of your passport, there should not be a problem at all. What we need first is the confirmation of your registration. Then, you can inform us your flight schedule later. So, it would be great to send us your filled registration form by June 10 in order to book yourself a seat in the program.

Again, you both and, of course, other alumni are more than welcome to join this follow-up program in Bangkok. Please, feel free to let us know any questions you have in your mind. We will try our best to provide all information you need.

Best Regards,

Bundith Punsiri
