The annual Candlelight Memorial for the Fallen in Iraq will be held on the grounds of the Unitarian Church, 8470 Goodwood Blvd., on Sunday, March 16th.   Participants can gather at 7:00 p.m., with the candlelight vigil beginning at 7:30.  The event marks the Fifth Anniversary of the War on Iraq, which is being commemorated next week around the world.

The Memorial ceremony will include musicians from the church, a walk-through labyrinth, and a message from Minister Steve Crump.  Candles representing the approximately 4,000 U.S. military deaths will provide a solemn reminder of the losses suffered in the war, as well as the many lives lost in Iraq since March, 2003.  The names of the Louisiana dead will be read aloud by a Veteran of the Iraq War.

The Candlelight Memorial for the Fallen in Iraq is co-sponsored by the Bienville House Center for Peace and Justice and the Unitarian Church.  THE EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  The Baton Rouge community is invited to attend.
