Hello Nicolas,

I'm using Outlook together with a Blackberry to manage my e-mails,
tasks, ... and I am a friend of "Inbox to Zero".

Do you think it is possible to have an additional Jello folder in the
outlook mailbox to where you move e-mail items marked with a context
and/or project so that these items disappear from the inbox but still
can be handled with Jello.Dashboard?

Best regards, Winfried

Hello Winfried,

This is one of the leading ideas for the new version. The Inbox zero.
The philosophy will be tweaked a little but I think it will work!

Users will be presented with their inbox and tag & archive messages so they'll be out of the way. The archiving will be taking place at one User defined folder (there will be still means to override this folder according to tag) and a task will be created which will be linked to the original item.

The developing process has not yet reached that milestone, but it will soon do.

thanks for your idea
regards
Nicolas

Nicolas:

I like this idea and to me the ability to select a folder to match a
tag is crucial. Please allow the folder to be in *any* PST. I think
somone donated code that might hel with that :-)

A couple of thoughts:

- One might want multiple tags with an item. If that is done, and
more than one tag has a folder specified, ask the user which to use
for filing.

- Allow a tag to have actions associated. One might be create
appointment, another create task, perhaps another is reply to sender
or launch a program. Alllow checkboxes to that multiple actions can
be performed.

Justausr,

Yup, of course the folder will be at any given pst you shouldn't worry about that (this donated code I think will be a nice treeview somewhere)

Multiple tags will be on the game also. I wouldn't want questions to users about where to move items ad that's a problem. I'm thinking of copying multiple instances of the item (but this maybe will create inconsistencies, i don't know). Anyway, I got still long way till I get there.

Tag with actions associated???hmmm why put a tag on a message to reply and don't hit a reply button? Or instead of tag it push the Due to... button?
You have to see what I have in mind and we'll talk about it.
You also have to see a pre alpha demo of jello 5. It's been more than I week I've sent it to you. Didn't you download it???

I think one thing that Justauser was talking about with the tags that
would be associated with actions that would be nice, is to have an
auto tag with waiting for if you reply to them. Not for every one but
sometimes that would help. Instead of having to go back and find the
message to mark it as waiting. I am sure there are other instances
where you may want to do some other action asside from moving it too.
If that was put in it could even be used to automatically assign
contexts when assigning projects, or some other useful features,
instead of writing code specifically for that.

Yes the actions are a really good idea (hierarchies are too), at least those should be open for additions and ideas,
as for the whole Jello architecture. Re-code, re-code!

Its a complete messup of things and I'll might never make it, but at least I will try!

thanks for your ideas!
