Catching up - JW google group

I don't know if anyone out there has an interest in this forum, but I
decided to stop by and check in on it.

I started this google group in late 2005. At the time I was still a
Jehovah's Witness, struggling with doubts and fear. Me and my wife
eventually left the religion in 2007, and have since gone on to have
our first child. I'm back in college, finishing up my undergraduate
degree.

I found JWD shortly after starting this group, and because of the
large membership there I eventually focused all my time there. Please
know that you all were a great help to me during my exit from the
Watchtower. It really is amazing for me to come back here and see some
of the stuff I wrote.

Hello Drew, Well I must still be signed up as a member of your Jehovahs-witness google group for I received your e-mail.   I left the WT Society on account of the 1914 and 1874 doctrines and other errors I discovered that we were taught as truth. (!!??)  Such as who the "other sheep" actually are.   When I came out, I put my full trust in God, our heavenly Father and saw the need to carefully listen to Jesus (Yeshua) and DO what he told his followers TO DO. (Matthew 28:18-20) Anyway,  I really hope that your faith is now firmly grounded on God and Christ and the promised Kingdom instead of on the Watchtower SECT and the "Governing Body".  (Why do they think that they have the right to "govern" anybody, since Christ has not put them into that position, for we are still waiting for him to return.)  And they had the gall to divide Christians into two CLASSES!  Also teaching two destinations for Christians which is totally UNTRUE.  The WT Societys "governing body" has PUSHED AHEAD.   I am now "listening" more closely to what Christ said and taught as well as COMMANDED.  We had foolishly put more trust in men's words than in God's Words which he gave to His Son. My best friend who is a JW has moved one state away & although I am still
keeping up with her & hope she will see the truth not having her here every
day kind of has put the discussion of JW beliefs vs. the truth on the back
burner.

I am still very interested in hearing the discussions of the group so I will
be well prepared if the opportunity to reach out to her comes again. I will
check out the website as it may have some good info I can use also.

hey!!! i'm still on the list, too.  I've been out approx. ten years now and life is good.  i am free to feel and think and believe the way i want to believe.  i WAS on jwn after it switched from jwd, then, i found i couldn't log in (sunnygal41) and i tried the suggestions made, but, still no go, despite repeated requests,  so, i found Jehovah's Witness Recovery forum and I LOVE it.  They've even got a magazine for Witnesses........in RECOVERY from the JW cult.  My mom and sister are still in, although i heard that my middle nephew has been in and out a couple of times and met and married a non witness woman and they just had their first baby..............my mom keeps in touch with me, which i'm grateful for, but, sis is a hard liner.  my heart aches for her devotion to an empty cult, but, i know that it is useless until something major happens in your life to make you question.  about three years ago i was blessed with a reunion...........my closest friend while a jw contacted me to let me know that their family (except the oldest daughter) had all left because of the way the brothers handled a situation with their son..........it opened their eyes as to how unloving and legalistic the "society" really was.  it has been a blessing to me, as i no longer feel quite so alone, i.e. that feeling of having NO old friends left in one's life..........and we get together as often as possible, since we only live a town away from each other.  there is another ex sister who was also a friend, who also lives close by, and even though she'd been out for awhile, she hadn't really "recovered" and was still living in fear of Jehovah and the Big A, but, jean slowly but surely talked with her and we are now also great friends again...........amazing how two of my closest friends have now joined me in freedom.
