Saturday, April 21st, Orchestra Invitational @ Jefferson! Program
advertisements are due April 10th. Sign up to help out at this
important and fun event!
NOW - Time to learn about our revised trip plan for next year over
spring break. We are now part of the C.R. High School Music Trip to
Ireland! Students should have brought home paperwork on Monday. Ask
them to tell you about what they learned about the trip and come to
the Parent Meeting to learn more!
Below are the minutes from our meeting last month.
Jefferson Orchestra Parents Association
Minutes from 3-13-12
The session was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Peg Quandt.
In attendance were officers Jamie Bates, Carol McNamara, and Bill
Mullan.
The previous minutes were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Old Business:
Festival went well and the t-shirts were a hit. Teachers liked the
schedule. The date for next year will be at the end of January 2013.
Three students made the Kennedy Honor Orchestra: Dillon Vawter, Kylie
Sauter, and Justin Pugesek.
Coe College Concert (make it to one rehearsal a week): Tuesdays from
3:30 to 5:30 or Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 at Sinclair Auditorium.
Those attending will receive 100% on final.
Jefferson Invitational is on 4-21. Advertising is coming in but more
forms are available and need to be back by 4-10. Volunteers are
needed and we have a sign up sheet available.
The Young's have retired from recording, but we will have recordings
available by someone new. We need a duplicator at a cost of $100 to
$500. The Bates' do have some equipment we can use.
Bill Mullan will head up the food committee.
Deposit for the Europe trip of $200 is due on 4-5 to the bookkeeper.
On Sunday 5-7 a benefit will be held at Parlor City. Three bands will
be playing.
New Business:
Parent volunteers are needed for centers for the State Solo. We have
no times yet for the State Large Group.
Orchestra banquet will be 5-21. The auditorium will not be available
but will hold concert in band room. 4 to 5 seniors will be performing
and we will be using a portable shell.
Fund raisers: Chik-fil-a, Pizza Hut and CiCis. A back to school
event will be held at Barnes and Noble. Fiddle group will be playing
at the Linn County Fair in Central City at the end of June. A piano
smash will be held.
Meeting was closed at 8:00 pm.
