Jefferson Student Council

I have what I consider to be some interesting and exciting news
regarding Student Council and our meeting time. We have been approved
to move our meeting times to after school on Wednesday's during
teacher PLC meetings. This will hopefully mean that more student
council members can attend on a more regular basis. We will also have
the luxury of meeting for an entire hour instead of 20-25 minutes that
Thursday mornings allowed us. I see this as a HUGE benefit to us and
the direction that I hope to see our Student Council heading towards.
Also, meeting during teacher PLC times will give Student Council the
opportunity to better understand the PLC process and become part of
our school's Professional Learning Community - you are our student
leaders and should be an influence on our school and how we operate!

We will be meeting EVERY OTHER Wednesday afternoon beginning on Feb.
24th, which would put us on a second and fourth Wednesday rotation.
So, here is what our schedule will look like for the remainder of the
year, with meetings starting at 2:10 and going until 3:10 (realize
that some dates may change due to weather or other unforseen
conflicts):

Wed. Feb. 24
Wed. Mar. 10
Wed. Mar. 17 (because spring break is the following week)
Wed. Apr. 14
Wed. Apr. 28
Wed. May 5
Wed. May 19

Location - I am going to be working on a location to meet. Stay tuned
for more info!!!!

If needed we can try to add additional days either before or after
school on other days, or we can extend a Wednesday meeting past 3:10.
I am really excited about this!!!

Here is your assignment - get as many current members signed up on
this Google Group by having them contact me via email
(ae...@cr.k12.ia.us). Get as many of your friends who are interested
in making positive changes to Jefferson to come to meetings and
contribute. Brainstorm ideas that you want to bring to our meeting
and begin forming your vision of a better and improved Jefferson
Student Council!

To conclude - we will not meet this week and resume our meetings on
Feb. 24th at our new time and (soon to be announced) new location. An
announcement will also be read at school to let the entire student
body know about this change.
