August Meeting

[Jeff City Writers Group]

Our Jefferson City Writers Meet Up was held at the Library on Wed.
July 2nd with three regular members and two new members present. The
next MeetUp is scheduled for 7PM, Wed. August 6th, at the Missouri
River Regional Library.

It was decided to hold our Jefferson City Writers' Garage Sale on
Friday, August 8th and Saturday, August 9th. The location will be
announced. We need all the help we can get. Of course your
contributions of unwanted and old books to the cause are appreciated,
but we will also be selling the usual garage sale items: bikes,
furniture, household items and of course the inevitable hot-air
popcorn popper. Announcements will be circulated ten days before the

The last MeetUp was very productive for all involved. Don read his
installment in the Exquisite Corpse saga. The mystery deepens… Bob
took on the task of writing Chapter 3. Everyone read their
contribution to the assignment to write a short creative non-fiction
work. John and Charlene (our two newest members) even brought along
some very good samples of their writing to read. Adam came up with an
interesting idea for the writing assignment for the Aug. MeetUp:
Write a brief piece describing the point of view of a spoon in a
dishwasher. That should be a challenge for everyone!

Even though many of you may not be able to attend due to summer
schedules, I would encourage you to keep in touch through the MeetUp
site. Try to come to the meetings if you can. We are having some
very interesting MeetUps with a lot of creative contributions by all
the participants.
