Recruiting Haiyya Second Class of Fellows: 

Haiyya (www.haiyya.in) is a Mumbai- based organization focused on civic participation, community organizing, and leadership development. We use a community organizing framework to build neighborhood leaders and develop volunteer teams who tackle important public and civic issues on a local scale and create measurable change. So far, we have engaged close to 1,000 citizens and developed over 50 community leaders in our first campaign on Public Safety across Mumbai and are now expanding. 

Haiyya is recruiting applicants for its Haiyya Fellowship Program. Haiyya Fellows will be the leaders on the ground for our upcoming campaigns: either on Public Safety 2.0, or on Electoral Cleanup to encourage democratic participation and protect the right to vote. Past Fellows have described the Fellowship Program as "lifechanging" and "a challenge that changed our points of view." The Haiyya Fellowship program will begin 12 July with a 3-day training, will have ongoing trainings, and will conclude 15 October. It requires on average a 10 hour/week commitment. We are seeking applications from any individuals who have a commitment to making change in their own neighborhood - we had everyone from housewives to high-schoolers to professionals from all religious and social economic backgrounds in our last class and look forward to creating similar diversity in this next class.
