Hi all,

As per the Gazette notification, the Act has been notified in all states by the Central Government. Yet, states like Rajasthan has been contesting the implementation of the Act on the ground that the State Government has not notified the Act and it has its separate state act on the issue. As per our understanding, S.1(3) of the Central Act empowers only the central govt to notify the Act and State govt has no choice in this regard under the Act.
Has anyone dealt with this aspect before?

Hi Shefali,

If we can be of any help, just let us know. We still want to continue the work on how to integrate street vendors in public life, make plans and take care of a healthier environment.

Keep me posted and keep up the good work!

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Deborah Lambert

Onderwerp: Implementation Strategy for the Street Vendors Act 2014: Making of Draft Rules

Dear All,

iJustice (an initiative of the Centre for Civil Society) organised a monthly roundtable on 11 April 2014 (Friday), discussing implementation strategy for the recently passed Street Vendors Act 2014. The meeting was attended by various lawyers and other stakeholders.

As a follow up, it was decided to frame draft rules under the Act to be submitted to the Government, by the first week of June. We will soon be circulating broad heads under which rules are to be drafted.

If any individual and/or organisation is interested in helping us in this process, kindly send me a mail. I am attaching the Minutes of the Meeting for your perusal.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and regards,
