Hi,

We have started a discussion about failover and load-balancing, but we
haven't said what we want to achieve from those technologies and as far as
I know there are many ways to improve reliability and performance of a
multi-tiers distributed system.

For instance, we can attempt to address :

- latency of the traffic (between client/server or between several clients)
- bandwidth shortage
- interruption of service
- server load (distribution)

We can approach this from many angles, as for routing the network
traffic, I know of the following:

1 - routing the rtmp(t) connection of the flash client to a server (rtmp
connection routing)
2 - routing the http traffic serving the swf (application server routing)
3 - routing the rtmp traffic to a given red5 server (edge routing)
4 - routing the ip traffic (http, rtmp) at the network layer (network
routing)

So let's discuss first about the requirements !

Thanks,
christophe
