Looking for an on-campus job? Apply to be a student manager in Nolan’s!
Why work in Nolan’s?
Over the summer, we have been hard at work trying to make some changes and implement some new programs. Changes include
- Opening the space during the day as a student lounge area with free coffee
- Adding a new sound system, an additional flat screen tv, and new artwork
- Adding a new late night pub menu with nachos, wings, mozzarella sticks, etc
- Adding ice cream and made-to-order smoothie station
- Adding satellite radio and trivia system
And, the biggest change of all is that Nolan’s will now feature regular weekly student programming, six nights a week!
Mondays: Monday Night Football & Trivia Night
Support your favorite NFL team on one screen and compete in online trivia on the other screen!
Tuesdays: Class Night
Each class (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) will have one Tuesday each month on a rotational basis to have a class event. Let’s start a new Hopkins tradition and help build class unity!
Wednesdays: Jazz Night
Featuring local jazz musicians from Hopkins, Peabody, and the city of Baltimore. A relaxing, laid-back atmosphere. Great for studying or grabbing a late-night snack with friends.
Thursdays: Pub Night
Our trial-version of pub night in Nolan’s last semester was so popular, we are bringing it back every Thursday night. Meet up with friends, enjoy live entertainment, and grab a low-cost beer right on campus (21+ to drink; open to all ages).
Fridays: Movie Night
Looking for something to do on a Friday night? Catch a movie on the big screen.
Saturdays: Student Group Night
Tired of hosting events in the Glass Pav? Looking for a unique space on campus for your student organization? Every Saturday, after 9pm, food service ends early to allow Nolan’s to become a blank space for your club’s event.
I am looking for outgoing, reliable, proactive students to play a hands-on role in making Nolan’s the place to hang out on campus.
The essential functions and primary job responsibilities vary depending on the day/time of your shift.
Daytime (noon – 5:00pm) shift responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining the coffee station, controlling the channel and volume of the television and radio, and keeping the games closet organized. As the only staff presence, it is the student manager’s responsibility to maintain an orderly, safe, and fun atmosphere for students to relax, socialize, and study.
Nighttime (5:00pm – 12:30am) shift responsibilities include distributing trivia games pads, controlling the channel and volume of the televisions and radio, and keeping the games closet organized. The student manager will have a hands-on role in providing entertainment in Nolan’s (musical performances, comedy shows, movies, etc). This includes reorganizing tables and chairs for events, setting up audio/visual equipment, and helping artists load-in and load-out.
Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday: 11:45am – 12:30am
Saturday: 5:00pm – 12:30am
Sunday: 5:00pm – midnight
Looking for students who can work a minimum of 7 hours per week (maximum of 20 as allowed by the University).
Minimum Job Requirements
Outgoing personality with great communication skills. Hospitable when working with artists. Good teamwork and decision-making skills. Reliable and proactive. Willingness to learn basic A/V management skills. Attendance at weekly staff meetings and once-a-semester training retreat.
In addition to the required skills listed above, basic knowledge of audio/visual equipment (microphones, mixers, speakers, etc) and an interest in event management and/or performance sound management are preferred.
