Hello,

I downloaded jcryptool-0.9.9-macosx.cocoa.x86_64.tar.gz. After extracted the file into my Applications folder.  The structure of the files are the following

Applications
- Jcryptool-0.9.8  // I rename the folder
--- Info.plist
--- jcryptool (folder)
--- MacOS (folder)
--- Resources (folder)

I naturally go to MacOS folder and double click on the JCrypTool file.  However, I get this message:

Alert:
The JCrypTool executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shred library.

Are there installation/set up instructions somewhere?

Thanks,
-CB

Hi,

This is strange and looks like a build error. There are no required install steps and no install scripts, normally just extract and run (so there is nothing you can do). I'll get back at you as soon as possible.

This is a Tycho bug in 0.23.1: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=463670

JCrypTool core bug ticket is https://github.com/jcryptool/core/issues/108, a new build will solve the problem

Hi,

Fixed the bug, thanks for pointing it out! A new weekly build is available for download and should work on OS X now as well.

Thanks, Dominik.

This time it went further.  Now, it gives me the following error:

--------------------------------------------------
An error has occurred.

See the log file
/Applications/JCrypTool-0.9.9/jcryptool.app/Contents/Eclipse/configuration/1443479192475.log.
-------------------------------------------------

However, I don't see the log files.  The only file that came with the .gz file was the JCrypTool.app.

Thanks,
-Christian

Hi Christian,

I'm not able to reproduce that, so I need more information. Can you please execute "java -version" in the terminal (without the "") and copy/paste the result into a response here? And a JCrypTool workspace folder should be generated. This folder is named .jcryptool (and hidden) in user_home/Documents/.jcryptool. This folder should contain a .metadata which contains a .log file. At least I hope that this file is generated. If so, please attach this file to your post.

Hi,

what's the result of java -version in the terminal? And is there any log file located in /Users/[USERNAME]/Documents/.jcryptool/.metadata in a .log file? Folder and file are hidden by default, so please use the terminal.
