Effective risk management plans identify risks, focus on the most important risks, and develop mitigation steps within the context of the project constraints.
The integrated impact analysis matrix allows the team to include a more complete analysis of project risks while at the same time, quickly identifying which risks demand the attention of the project team. As a result, the team can ultimately invest their finite resources in managing the right risks throughout the life of the project.
During the execution of the project, the risk matrix serves two purposes:
1. to monitor those risks that are highest on the list.
2. to serve as an existing scale against which new risks can quickly be assessed and prioritized. This will speed up the process of managing the right risks throughout the life of the project.

Introduction
'Some risks that are thought to be unknown, are not unknown. With some foresight and critical thought, some risks that at first glance may seem unforeseen, can in fact be foreseen. Armed with the right set of tools, procedures, knowledge and insight, light can be shed on variables that lead to risk, allowing us to manage them.' - Daniel Wagner, CEO, Country Risk Solutions.
