Hi Brian,

Yesterday i went to visit my parents and an interesting conversation began. It all centered on marriage, and we were discussing the extended family. My mom started an exploratory series of different marriages in the family (extended), starting from my grandparents, uncles, aunties, and now our generation. To cut the long story short, we explored all the Mariras, my name sakes'. All of them have either more than one wife, or are divorced, or have bitten and chased away their wives, and my generation seem to be taking too long without getting married, and the young married ones have once or twice kicked their wives out of their houses. I laughed my heart out as my dad tried to defend the family, mentioning one by one. But all seemed to be plagued by one of those issues.

Anyway, my point is knowledge and understanding is key, know where you are coming from and trust God to equip you with wisdom to tackle the road ahead. As the bible says, "my people perish for lack of knowledge". Get wisdom and understanding because its interesting, the enemy uses the same issues that have plagued our forefathers to plague us. Its all over the bible, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob....all at one point presented their wives as sisters, David, Solomon, etc had a share of women issues to deal with.

BTW, where is everyone else on these thread? is it that guys dont use their emails in ushering?? Carol, Cate, Angie....

Love you bro!
Dickson.

Dickson, Brian and everyone else,

I have taken time to really allow the text that Peris sent us to sink in and meditate deeply. Usually I am quick to respond to mails and have answers on the go...but this time round I decided to deeply evaluate before I respond. One thing that kept ringing in my mind was this "If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do" Psalms 11:3.Meaning that if we build a wrong foundation or we are built on wrong foundations nothing good will stand! Just like Dickson has pointed out, its good to have knowledge and understanding of where each one of us is in life which will help us to be equipped by God on how to do things.

Now I thank the Holy Spirit for revealing something I almost forgot, the story of Jabez (1st Chronicles 4:10) could be simply an example of what the "Mariras" and in this case have experienced: Pain, anguish, loss, divorce, bitterness and anger. Each one of us might come from such a lineage or maybe something else however the bible says that Jabez cried out unto the Lord saying
"Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain" ...

The bible continues to say that

 "An God granted his request"...

Therefore we can avoid the follies of the past that may have been set in motion before us or even in our daily actions/mistakes by truly trusting God and the redemptive power available in Jesus name!

Love You All :)

Thanks Dickson,

Got some homework to do now.

There are things that i can see like on my mums side all my uncles have died of alcohol related issues. Right now most of my cousins are having or have had problems with alcohol.
