Here are some shots from Saturday's ride. This location is on one of the punchy but non-gravel hills. I think it's before the first feed zone, but even then everyone had already gotten a good taste of the intensity of the route's climbs and the insanity of the rutted and sandy gravel descents.

Had a great time even though Mark and I sagged out after 50 miles. Ken is a superstar for putting this on the radar and making the day happen. Looking forward to 2017.

Nice work guys.  It's cool that they take so many pictures and they don't plaster the previews with watermarks to make you purchase them.

I already signed up for GFNY 2017. I hope they aren't on consecutive weekends again or I'll do that race with you in 2017.

Here are a couple watermarked shots from GFNY.

I think I've forgotten what it feels like to ride more than 10 miles in one stint. I need to get back and ride with y'all. Ro, I'm going to try and see if I can work from NYC the week of John's wedding. If I get clearance on that we should plan at least one long ride (and by long I mean ~40 miles :) ).

Ara,
If you zip those pictures up for me I can toss them up in a post on the blog.

I got you, Erik. We can drive to GWB and just do a ride to Runcible Spoon and back. Just for you, we can cut out the JC/Edgewater junk miles that you hate.

If you don't pack your bike, try to at least pack your saddle. With the amount of running you do, I'm sure your ass will get sore well before your legs. The familiar saddle might help - I was wishing I did that when I borrowed Armando's bike on my SF visit. Tip: Make Sharpie dots on the saddle rails so you can get it back to where you like it on your bike.

Yeah Ara - that was right after that treacherous downhill in the first 20 miles - I think its called Meeting House Road.   Love how they take your picture right when you're redlining your heart rate.

Ro - can't wait to hear stories.   Must have been tough with that wind - I saw the leaders were 15 - 20 minutes slower than last year.

Let's get a group ride going in the next few weeks so we can compare notes.    I have to say the GFNY - Battenkill double would be epic.

If anyone here signs up for both, I'll do the same. I rode a portion of gfny with a guy who said he was doing Battenkill. Dude was fast, but if I train right through to next year, I can keep with him. Lol.

I'm planning on both right now. Not pulling the trigger for a while though. Need to see if I lose enough weight and gain enough speed first.
