I have previously used the KIE Workbench web editor in Chrome for composing workflows. However, now it seems to have stopped working.

Trying to load the KIE workbench for JBPM (e.g. /jbpm-console) results in a spinning wheel and "Please wait Loading Application".

As it was previously working and I haven't modified JBPM, my suspicion is that I may have installed something that conflicts with the editor somehow as Firefox doesn't seem to work either. IE does load the workbench (as it did also before), however it is incredibly buggy: editing workflows results in various graphics rendering issues and things don't update in the UI after saving them.

Does anyone know what the problem might be with the workbench Web Editor?

Platform is:
JBPM v6.1.0 (run through the jbpm-installer) on Ubuntu
My client machine (editing the workflows) is Windows 7 64 bit.

Have you tried clearing browser cache and roload the page? Maybe something that got cached is causing issues…

Hi Maciej,

Thank you for the quick response. I have tried clearing the cache and it hasn't helped unfortunately.

Julian,

you could try to increase logging to see if we can get more details.

To increase the log level on the client, the following two JavaScript variables can be set (i.e. in the Chrome console or the hostpage):

erraiSystemLogHandlerLevel=DEBUG
erraiConsoleLogHandlerLevel=DEBUG

Another thing that might get in the way is firewall settings that might be blocking communication between client and server. Can you check if you can logon properly from non windows machine?

Maciej

Thanks. I've tried disabling the firewall (and adblock) but no difference.

I don't have a non-windows machine with a browser. However, I have now tested another Windows 7 machine I have, and using Chromium with that works. So, I have two machines that it doesn't work on and one it does. All are Windows 7.

I'm trying to increase the JavaScript logging. I get a "Uncaught ReferenceError: DEBUG is not defined"
when entering erraiSystemLogHandlerLevel=DEBUG at the console.

And both erraiSystemLogHandlerLevel and erraiConsoleLogHandlerLevel appear to be undefined during the page execution.

Did you mean something erraiSystemLogHandlerLevel="DEBUG" or var erraiSystemLogHandlerLevel="DEBUG"? (it doesn't seem to add any additional logs)

Thanks
Julian

don't seem to be defined to anything

I had a chance today to try a more uptodate version of JBPM (jbpm-6-3). I still get the same symptoms of the "Please Wait: Loading Application...." screen.

The Javascript console error is slightly different though. This time it is:
13:10:12 SEVERE [InitVotes] components failed to initializeBSf @ org.kie.workbench.KIEWebapp-0.js:32464
13:10:12 SEVERE [InitVotes]    [failed] -> org.jboss.errai.enterprise.client.cdi.api.CDI @ org.kie.workbench.KIEWebapp-0.js:32464

Anyone have any other insights on why this might be?

I have same problem, because i enable anti-virus AVG and open fire-wal of AVG. When i disable that, KIE Workbench work fine.
I tested other anti-virus software (Kaspersky, BKAV,...), i have same problem.
I hope help you.

Thank you Tuấn! That has helped me. It is related to the AV. My organisation has sophos and once I stopped all Sophos services the web-editor works again.

Thanks
Julian
