Job Title: Jboss Admin

Location : Long Island, NY / Bethpage, NY

Duration : 12 Months plus

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the general direction of the Director and technical leadership of other experienced team members, perform and provide JBOSS, Weblogic, Tomcat, iPlanet, Redhat Web Server, Single Sign On and other middleware administration support which may include installations, configuration, and troubleshooting, tuning, logical and physical design. Participate in research & development activities and implementation strategies for enterprise initiatives.  Work with other technical team members that may consist of Project Managers, Developers, DBAs, Systems Administrators to develop and support technical tasks and action plans for implementations. Maintain and investigate performance improvements of java applications and insure compliance with strategic architecture and general computer controls.

   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Install, configure, maintain, administer, tune and troubleshoot applications.

2.       Implement and configure security requirements adhering to IT control policies and guidelines.

3.       Perform general administration tasks including application code deployments and configurations approved by change control in various infrastructure environments.

4.       Implement application backups providing support for restore and recovery procedures including support of the annual Disaster Recovery exercise.

5.       Perform monitoring and proactive maintenance to prevent service interruptions.

6.       Schedule and perform application upgrades and support application code deployments and configurations.

7.       Establish and maintain appropriate access permissions for all supported application environments.

8.       Maintain an inventory/library of support documentation and procedures.

9.       Conduct software audits of the software products for compliance with established standards, policies, guidelines and procedures.

10.   Troubleshoot and support deployment issues in development, test and production environments as needed.  Provide after hours support and extended support when required to meet project deadlines.

11.   Monitor and administer performance tuning, including management of storage and networking requirements.

12.   Design and implement improved methods and tools for troubleshooting, problem research and open systems utilization.  Automate repetitive administrative tasks.

13.   Participate to troubleshoot, investigate and resolve problems and perform required system maintenance activities ensuring timely resolution for all production issues, conducting  root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.

14.   Develop documentation including operations manuals, procedures and problem resolution.

15.   Escalate problems to management and technical lead in a timely fashion.

16.   Participate in projects and perform other duties as assigned. 

17.   Participate in research activities and implementation strategies for enterprise initiatives.  

18.   The individual will need to be very flexible with ability to adjust to changing business needs.

19.   Perform SSL certificate installations and renewals.

20.   Required to participate in an on call rotation (includes evenings, weekends and occasional holidays.

21.   Ensure all proper change management and problem management processes are followed including identifying the overall architectural impacts when there are changes to the application environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.       Minimum 5-6 years’ experience on multiple hardware platforms and operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows).  Minimum 3 years as a JBOSS and or Weblogic administrator.  Experience in Open Systems environment is essential.

2.       Strong understanding of client server technology, networking concepts, relational databases and tools.

3.       Knowledge and experience with scripting languages to perform automation tasks.

4.       Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.

5.       Possess excellent analytical and decision making skills.

6.       Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7.       Possess outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.

8.       Understand best practices for general maintenance methodologies in various areas of system and middleware administration.

9.       Extensive experience in configuring Data Sources and JDBC connection pools.

10.   Experience in analyzing and reading logs to troubleshoot and investigate issues and possess competency in the area of problem analysis.

11.   Experience in working with Load Balancers and Networking teams to configure Load Balancer rules to evenly distribute traffic between multiple servers.

12.   Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and Change Control Process.

13.   Experience in providing on call 24X7 support for production environments.

14.   Perl, bash/shell scripting a plus
