Using Eclipse 3.3 and Java 8.025 32 bit and latest JBookTrader.

Right after trying to create the new project and clicking finish I am getting:

The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for java.lang.CharSequence. Fix the build path then try building this

The type java.lang.CharSequence cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files JBookTrader/source/com/jbooktrader/platform/web WebHandler.java line 1 1417556361750 29

I have tried various things but I get 2 these 2 errors early on and won't compile if I ignore.

Thanks

I am not using Eclipse, but from what I am reading, you need Eclipse Luna (4.4.x) to support Java 1.8.

OK, I must have done something differently, it ran but with this error:

Dec 02, 2014 5:04:18 PM java.util.prefs.WindowsPreferences <init>

WARNING: Could not open/create prefs root node Software\JavaSoft\Prefs at root 0x80000002. Windows RegCreateKeyEx(...) returned error code 5.

Created that registry key with Admin permissions, but still this error when run

Also, the application looks different than what is shown in the manual.  The 4 strategies are not listed, and the 3 lights are not included, did I do something wrong?

1. The key should be: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs. Is that what you created?
2. JBookTrader comes with 1 sample strategy. The user manual is a little out of date.
3. Not sure what the "3 lights" that you are referring to are.

OK, I needed also to open and run eclipse as Administrator also and the error has now gone away.  Yes I had added that key.

In the install manual in /docs the image it shows for successful compile has 3 colored "lights" on top of the program, and lists 4 strategies?  I suppose those are strategies that were added but not in a new install?

Sorry, I am new to jbooktrader and appreciate the help.

The 3 "colored lights" are just the "minimize", "restore", and "close" buttons which constitute the "Mac" look and feel when JBookTrader runs on Linux/MacOX. The Windows look and feel is different, which is probably what you got. You can easily substitute the look and feel with literally dozens of different schemes.

The 4 strategies listed in the manual ere part of JBT at the time the user manual was written. The latest JBT version comes with just one sample strategy.
