Hello,
We all know what happened in Haiti, we have all seen pictures and understood how hard the situation is. The Haitians lost their family and friends, lost their home and don't have anything to eat or drink. To worsen the situation, there are desperate breeds of violence because these lack of food supplies.
Let's act, let's help!
Are you asking what can we do, us, CISVers? Well, in times like these we shouldn't send food. Not just because this is not the only thing Haitians need (they also need tools for agriculture, medicine etc), but also because bigger organizations such as United Nations and Red Cross are already planning what to do and what to send. However, they do need money to act, to buy the supplies, to send them to Haiti, to have people working there etc.
I know most people don't like to donate money, but there's nothing to loose on trying! I think each JB/NA could send an email to the people in their chapters asking if they could do it.. I'm adding here the International Red Cross's link and the United Nation's one so you can send it to your chapter, and even donate, or just get inspired!
I also thought about throwing a party, a dinner or just a sale and the money earned could be sent to one of these organizations.
Thanks a lot,
Cheers!
