Sorrr! I forget to put T24 in the subject.

Briefly can somebody tell me about the differences between Globus and T24.

Thanks

Riz.

Hi!

Prior to release R05 there was Globus and versions were G12, G13, G14, after G14 Temenos released R05 (actually it should be G15) and named it T24.

The significant difference between T24 and Globus is that T24 offers
non-stop processing and the BATCH.CONTROL application is replaced with
the Close of Business which allows errors to be logged and the COB to
continue.

With Globus when a BC error was encountered the process crashed and it
was necessary to correct the data and re-run.

So basically T24 offers improved availability and resilience over
Globus; it also demands jBase whereas Globus allowed Universe.

Globus didn't start at G12 as the earliest version I used was G7 - the
application had been on the go for many years before that though...

Thanks for your precise reply and fully convinced.
Look "how easy the life is" if good people are around.

I have one more query, will it be possible that while COB is running the user can still input the deals.

With best wishes

Riz.

The answer is "It depends..." Non-stop processing supports different T24 modules in different releases. In simple way - that the newer release of T24 you have more modules are NS enabled. In general - yes you can input data, but new contracts will be created in "next working day" so that they will not affect COB.

Hi all:

If "non-stop processing" referred to here is what I think it means, then I can't understand why it would be a function of the data base system at all.  I have had non-stop processing in my jbase ver 3.4 system for years.  So, what is the advantage of "upgrading"?

It's pure T24 specific, there is Close Of Business process, in releases before R05, before Non stop processing, user was not able to do any active operations (create new deals and so on) during this process. It had nothing to do with database, this was problem with business logic.
