Hi guys,
After much sweating, I got jBase running on Kubuntu 7.10 (Desktop
version). I want to test jBase there before migrating to Ubuntu Server
(and Linux, in general).
Cool - you are a better man than me - I can't get the latest version (4.1.5.20) to run on 64 bit Ubunty Hardy (as a 32 bit program) as the stupid license daemons crash. I can't get devsup or Temenos to acknowledge me either (how the mighty can fall ;-).
Problem is, i dont know how to connect to the jbase telnet server. I
am arguing for Windows point of view. In Windows, a jBase installation
automatically installs and configures telned service.
This is Linux so there are no jBASE specific things in this area. Usually though Linux uses sshd (in one form or another) and you use a client like Putty or SecureCRT. You have to start the sshd and configure it to autostart (loads of info on this on the web). However, if you don't have a ssh cleint, you can also start the Linux telnet server (again just see the web in general for how to do this on Ubuntu).
My question is, what is the Linux equivalent and how do I get it
running? The jBASE version is jBASE 4.1.5.19
Will really appreciate your assistance.
PS: I am very willing to share info on basic install of jBase on
Ubuntu system.
You find that jSlimServer actually runs?
