Since many of us regulars migrated to Facebook and the Facebook MT,
this place has been languishing.

For those of you who haven't migrated, I'm here, too.

I lost .4 lbs since last Sunday. I have come to realize over the last
7 wks. that I've depended on exercise to keep me in shape. It has,
yet I gained weight, even while fully functioning and not on the DL
(Disabled List). No big surprise, I failed to keep the food intake
under control.

To that end my husband and I recommitted to WW last week and we've
both seen some positive results. Only now, for me, diet will play a
bigger part in any weight loss than exercise.

I can ride the trainer but it's boring. I get on it every other day,
roughly. I also add the previous years' challenge to that, and
incorporate some upper body work with the red tube. My slog back to
where I was even last year will be slow and likely painful. But you
know me -- I relish a challenge.

So, what of the rest of you?

I managed to lose nine pounds through the Jazzercise Take It Off
program. I would like to lose a little more but will really need to work
at it.
Unfortunately I also rely on exercise to control my weight and really
must make better food choices. (So easy to say; so hard to do)

Same goal: maintain weight and pay closer attention to food intake
whenever the message from the Wii body check shows an increase.

I've been on the DL for a number of years and in January 2008, I
FINALLY realized that I wasn't going to get any better than I was
therefore my exercise level not going to get any harder and if I
needed to control my weight, I had to control food. It's not easy; I
try not to dwell.

This past week, we've attended a wedding and a bday party. Way too
much food, as Wii showed me this morning. So, I have to be more
diligent. It helps that my SBUX is no longer there. I automatically
save 2 points!

Congrats on the loss, Glenn! Congrats on the resolve, Deb.

We're all in this together!!!!!

Way to go on rededicating and the losses!!

I started eating healthier at the beginning of the year, but it wasn't
until March that I realized my issue is portion control!!

So, I tweaked that majorly and am happy to report that I am down 14
lbs for the year yippee!! I have 15 more to go, but will settle for
10 short term....I have learned that while ramping up exercise
definitely leads to quicker weight loss, if I cannot keep the ramped
up exercise indefinitely, then I'm setting myself up for a set
back....does that make sense? Anyway, I'm glad to see Glenn posting,
and thanks Deb for reminding us that goal setting and self reflection
are the keys to success!!!

Deborah,

WW is the only way I can lose weight (journal everything)--I try to be
physically active (I walk) but without a Jazzercise class anywhere
close by, I don't have an exercise program I like. I tried a gym last
October and really intended to join, but I put it off. Good thing,
because the gym just closed two weeks ago and I would have been stuck
with a two year contract. I will miss hearing abour your bike trips
until you can reconvene.

I am losing weight much more slowly this time than I did two years
ago, but I am down 15 pounds as well. I am neck and neck with
Elizabeth. Congratulations, I know how tough it is. I have 15 more
pounds to lose as well.

Glenn, I used to live on Pepsi and chocolate and never gained an
ounce. I can't tell you how difficult it has been to change my eating
habits. My cholestral was up this year. I got a note from my doctor
after my annual exam in January -- "Do what you did two years ago."
that was WW where I couldn't eat sugar or fried foods.

I do wish someone would certify and teach Jazzercise classes close to
me. Sorry, I did that when I moved here 15 years ago, I'm way past
doing that now.

I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well.

Congrats G, E, and D! That's great news!

I think if we maintain our small group here we'll help keep each other
accountable. We've done it before and we'll do it again.

I should be happy I've dropped 4 lbs but I want it off faster! This
menopause cr*p is killin' me. Gotta do more and eat less just to
maintain. So *losing* is a real challenge. My brat side is throwing a
tantrum over perceived "deprivations" >grin<. But, if I keep my mind
occupied with other things I can forget that I'm not eating some of
the things I want to. Sigh.

Here's a tip for those pre-menopausal . . . . don't let the weight
gain happen in the first place!!! It's not nearly as hard to stay
where you are; trying to lose the belly fat, once it's arrived, proves
very difficult once you've hit the Big M.

I agree--the big M is driving me crazy. (Poor Glenn!) The weight is
so much harder to take off now. I do look here for support and
accountability. I have to confess, I ate 2 p*p t*rts today. I
haven't done that since December. I don't even like them!

Now I have to find a different means of exercise besides walking, at
least for a while. I work at a location really close the the Salt
Lake--there are these little bugs (I can't even see them coming) with
shark teeth. By the time I got back to my desk after walking today I
was itching all over. I'm still chasing one around my computer (I can
see it in front of the glow!) I looked at the Cab*lla's catalog on
line and they have a head net--I'll order one but these bugs are so
small, I don't know if the net will work. Next will be the mosquitos--
I'm enough of a hypochrondriac that I can see West Nile Virus setting
in already! Do you lose weight with that? Ha!

Thanks for being here.

Did you guys see that Kirstie Alley, former Jenny Craig spokesperson,
got down to 145 lbs and gained 83 lbs since she stopped being the SP?
She says she weighs more now than ever! Yikes! In addition to eating
a lot more, she apparently didn't follow the accountability method of
weighing herself every week.

We must be ever vigilant!

I do feel for Kirstie - it is so hard to keep weight off. I have been on the yo-yo many times. Unfortunately it keeps harder and harder to take it off and easier and easier to put it back on.

What I do find helpful is reading reports how others are doing - I really find that 'misery loves company' approach to weight loss seems to inspire me. I know for a fact that I am not going to do it on my own.

I feel bad for her as well, but after twenty/thirty pounds wouldn't
you stop and realize things are not going well? Obviously not. It
will be interesting to see what happens to Valerie Bertanelli,
hopefully she will be fine but we all struggle. It would be so way
cool to have a personal trainer and a diet "mom". I always thought if
I won the lottery, the only thing I would actually buy would be a
cook, well ok, and a Gypsy Vanner (horse).

Even though I did go down another pound this week, I'm still
struggling. I really want the ice cream. I love B&J's Ch*rry Garcia
yogurt. I will have to see if I can find the individual size
containers--I don't like to keep a big container in the house because
I'll eat it all.

The plant manager just told me this morning that the little bugs
actually have a name--"noseeums". And that's the truth!
