I hate to see this page slide into oblivion...so, what's new?

I'm done racing and we're gearing up to ride the tandem from SF to
Santa Barbara in a week. Everything's a go but our kids can't house-
sit, and that's a problem re my plants. I have other resources but
we'd prefer to have someone living here, esp. since the dogs will be
gone.

I'm still 3-ish lbs. over my goal weight, and can't figure out what I
need to do to get to the goal. Maybe have my dietitian friend give me
a program? I know it's not exercise; I logged over 160 miles this
week (in 4 days; I had plenty of time off), and last week I logged
over 150 bike miles, and 8 dog-walking miles too. I don't have the
time to increase my exercise time so there has to be something I'm
missing.

I miss you all who post on here; you don't post anywhere else that
I've found, and I feel like we're slipping away from our
accountability group. We all need each other. I hope we can keep
this forum active.

SOS (same old sohappyitsthursday)!

I've been watching a lot of biking shows, so I got motivated to try to
build my quads! Spent 25 min on the exerbike today, the longest I've
done. Have to be mindful of my knees. Wasn't bad, though, but not as
interesting as TD's time on her bike.

I made a joke once in class about animal crackers; and now, my
students regularly bring me a bag. I have to put a stop to it. I'm
one of these people who can't keep stuff like cookies & animal
crackers in the house because if it's there, I eat it. Well, battle
of the will power here.

Hope your tandem trek goes well. Sounds like a very enjoyable ride.
How long is it?

Yeah, Deb. I agree with you. We should keep this board active

According to the Wii, my weight zig zag remains the usual. No big
peaks or drops.

It was great hearing from both of you. Very little news from me - I still plod through the occasional 5k. I did one that was put on by my neighborhood - I think I was the only one not to get a ribbon. I did have the best cheerleaders as both my wife and daughter were there cheering loudly. My thirteen year old son slept in - he had seen me plod through countless runs before.

I went to see Fame with my mother yesterday. I enjoyed but not as much as the original. My mother had trouble understanding it - which is part of the byproduct of her senile dementia. We went to the Studio Grill in Houston so she got a good lunch and she did enjoy the singing and dancing even though the "intricacies" of the plot eluded her.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Good to hear what you all are doing.

I have been trying to finish up big projects in my yard before winter
(I didn't want to get stuck with mud all winter). I am trying to walk
every day--never as much as I would like, but the dogs keep me
honest. I can't walk the Samoyed with the Newfoundlands, so I have to
make two trips down the road every evening plus my lunch walk.

Glenn, it sounds like you are doing better. Hope the health issues
are resolved. My bike fanatic / ski friend is trying to get me to
attend a Pilates class with her. I'm not totally opposed to going,
but I don't see the point in attending a class that only meets once a
week. My 16 year old (who got his driver's license finally--yeah) is
growing like everything right now. He went from a plump couch potato
to a taller than me (I'm 5'8"), skinny kid this summer. He's taken
himself off sugary soda although I can't convince him plain old water
is the best and has lost a little weight. He said if I join the gym
he would go with me every day. I'm leaning toward that as soon as I
see a sale I like.

Deborah, it sounds like maybe your body has just found the weight it
likes to be at. With as much riding as you do, any excess weight
shouldn't be a problem to take off. The ride from SF to Santa Barbara
sounds fabulous. I miss VAFB a lot. It is so beautiful there. Watch
out for that marine layer.

Shay, my downfall is graham crackers. I can't eat just one--I have to
eat one pack, so I don't buy them.
Good to hear from you all.

Great to hear everyone's updates! And Glenn, you are too hard on
yourself, at least your out there...which is more than most can say!

I've been maintaining by loss...yippee!! My biggest challenge is that
I find on some weekends, I overindulge and then that whole next week,
I fight to lose the 2 or 3 lbs I stupidly gain...I need to learn
better moderation...ha!

My downfall is salt and vinegar chips...and homemade baked good....I'm
scared of Christmas already lol.

I have a ton of yard work to doo also Denise, but I'm practicing
procrastination right now, which got me into my predicament to begin
with..will I never learn.

Have a great trip Deb...sounds like a lot of fun!
