I really like this style, and I'm really going to start showing how the
voicings are conceived and put together. The most difficult part is that a
lot of the three note voicings are ambiguous. How they function in the
context of a chord progression to a tune.

Dave,

These voicings capture the "comp" style, ala Freddie Green, quintessential learning of the "comp" not only for aspiring young jazz guitars but all-age guitarists ....

Forgot to ask John. How did you like his tone. I know it's a very
subjective thing so everyone won't be as enthused about it as I am.

Ron,

Birelli's tone ..._I've always had an image of his tone as an idiosyncrasy of what I imagine in my mind's ear as "Euro-Guitar-Jazz" .... a transference of his "Gypsy" style-acoustic mainstay to the arch top (and it's always a Gibson) ... I like his tone for it sheer unpretentiousness .... Birelli is what Birelli plays .... super chops and clean sound ... I also liked Philip Catherine's tone -- and I love his lyrical improv style ....

Both were good for me too. Tone is such a subjective thing anyway.
But I liked the clarity in the low strings with all that fatness
everywhere. As you said before their playing styles go together very
well.
