Has anybody transcribed this one?
I'm sending it to the folks at:
http://halfspeedjazz.blogspot.ca/
in case they want to use it as one of their posted solos.
so for completeness, I'm wondering if anybody has transcribed it.
I'm nowhere near up to the task of transcribing or playing this one.

What recording did Scott Henderson do a version of Giant Steps on? You refer to "this one" but you don't state the recording or provide a link to a video or audio file or some other way to know which performance you're referring to. (I see a couple of videos attached to the digest format post I received of the Jazz Guitar Yahoo group mailings - one of them from "chrisblondal" - but neither of them is of Scott Henderson),

Hi William.
Sorry about that. Here ya go:
Artist: Scott Henderson, Steve Smith, Victor Wooten
Title: Giant Steps
Album: Vital Tech Tones.
Release date: 1998
Scott Henderson: guitar
Steve Smith: drums
Victor Wooten: bass
I was trying to find a version of Giant Steps
that said something new, didn't just arpeggiate, etc.
This is down a semitone, so the tune is in D, not the usual Eb.

Can anyone explain what's going on in the intro
with the rhythm? Obviously parts are delayed, but
I'm so used to hearing the original Coltrane
track, thatstart/stop stuff just makes my brain
hurt. I want to understand what's actually going
on there. How would you describe that sort of
rhythmic displacement technically?

I seem to recall that version is in 7/4. (or similar odd time). Victor's
slap solo on Giant Steps in 7 (ie this version) is also worth a listen!

This is Beautiful guitar playing ...but I wouldn't listen to it again. The chops and phrasing seem magic.
