Besides that, from a Ted Greene interview, Joe Pass put out a complete
method from the beginning, only to be splitted by Mel Bay to what we
have today. Does anyone have seen that book as well?

Don Andrews, from Australia, put out a series of text many years ago
(in the 1960s ?). I've never seen them. I believe they were published
by J. Albert & Son, or Albert Music http://www.albertmusic.com/ but
are currently out of print. My only contact with them was that some of
the pieces in the books were on the Contemporary Popular Music Guitar
Exams syllabus of the Australian Music Examinations Board. As these
pieces were out of print as an alternative we chose pieces from Leavitt.

This is a very old thread - I'm not sure about responding to it; but it's related to the thread I recently started - about the Joe Fava books and alternatives. I actually tried to get hold of the Don Andrews plectrum method series as well. According to information in Australian library catalogues, it appears that books 1 and 2 in the series were quite short (46 pages and 31 pages long, respectively) compared to book 3 (267 pages) although the edition of the latter in the library appears to have two older titles combined as it's called "plectrum method 3 & riffs". So the first two books may not add much material. The various Don Andrews guitar books appear to be entirely unavailable outside of Australia and New Zealand (and possibly just via borrowing in a few libraries there). (Used copies may occasionally pop up - I think book 1 is currently available as one book in a rather large collection sold as a bundle on Alibris, abebooks.com or some other website right now),

By the way, I have book 2 of Don Andrews "Guitar Plectrum Method" series and also a chord melody method book by him (entitled " Guitar Constructing Chordal Solos The 12 Chord Series Method"). I also have a PDF copy of "Simplified Jazz Guitar Solos"; but you could probably find this yourself with Google. If you are interested we could exchange scanned copies of these books. (I think it would be "fair use" since the books are out of print and when I contacted the company that took over Alberts they declined to answer an enquiry about the likelihood of the books coming back into print in some form. I also attempted to borrow a copy using my university library's interlibrary loan service.) Your post was about ten years ago so this may be long forgotten about, of course...

Friends, I selected this conversation merely to test my access to this group. I have attempted to post a few messages to the group in recent days. But when I "send", my message quickly "disappears". And I see my messages nowhere.

I was eventually able to get hold of books 1 and 3 of Don Andrews "Guitar Plectrum Method". Book 3 is much longer than the other two books. I haven't properly read it yet; but it was worth looking out for - it looks good based on a glance through it.
