I've just listened to Jesse Van Ruller's Live At Murphy Law's album.
He certainly had good playing as well as tone.
Does anyone have an idea of what he's using?

Regards

Yep,

If i'm not mistaking he play's a Levin jazzbox with a 'D armond pickup
(wich once was played by René Thomas, and after that by Wim Overgaauw
he bought it in '70 and gave it to Jesse who at that time was his
pupil) trough a marble roadking 4 X 10 tube amp.

Cheers,

Paul.

I believe it is a Levin Deluxe dated aproximately 1968. But nobody
knows for sure. The serial number has worn of to much.

hi all,

I am a big fan as well as a friend with Jesse.

about his guitars: he started recording on his 1965
Levin archtop win overgaauw gave him, then he drove
over it....on circles he recorded with a Zeidler he
bougth second hand.

On murphys law he used his reconestructed (glued)
Levin. And on Views he uses his original model
Elferink Archtop, I believe one of the finest guitars
ever made-

He plays through a marble traveller witha roadking
cabinet.

great tone and great jazz tradition too.

JC ( on his picks I have no idea, I believe they must
really thick and hard for the great tone he uses)

Zeidler was quite an expensive guitar, and I've heard its one of the
best, it was unfortunate that Mr Zeidler died recently.
Elferink was another name that I first heard, an European builder?
Does Jesse uses single coil?

yeah, indeed he prefers single coil due to its mellow
acoustic response. He uses a Kent Armstrong, on his
Zeidler and on his elferink too.

kent armstrong single coil, My guitar is an Elferink
too, you can see it on the elferink website, it has a
kent armstrong single coil pickup too, Jesse played it
and tough it sounded fat and with good projection.

You can also have Frans ELferink build a guitar for
youm you wait 6 motnths and you can have the guitar of
your dreams built for you with the highest quality
woods normally used for cellos....
go to.

www.elferinkguitars.com

you have to wait 6 months for the building process
but I assure you wont stop playing the guitar once you
receive it by UPS. Frans can also put a De Armond
pickup if you like or any type of imaginable pickup.

contact him , my model is the Tonemaster Special. I
can forward some pics if you like

hi wc,

Please find attached hereunder some nice pictures of
my Elferink,. please contact Frans Elferink to have
him build a guitar for you. They are much less
expensive that a factory made guitar, and believe me
they sound far better than any benedetto or a
d'angelico for the price....I think its worth it, also
you can have ANY specs on the guitar you want.

Mine has my initials on the headstock, not any other
factory made guitar would have that....also you can
combine traditional craftmanship with state of the art
stuff like graphite nut or bone but...I mean-literally
anything...any wood combination, even wooden bindings
no Benedetto offers. This is mind booglineçg, the guy
is a great luthier and a great gentleman to work with.

By the way if you are interested in Jesses's Zeidler
he is selling it for 4000 euros, but it might be pretty
beaten up.... and for that price you can have a new
guitar done for you by Frans!

cheers, enjoy the pics

It was a really beautiful instrument, just too bad that I had an
50's 175 recently and the waiting time.
Is Jesse selling his Zeidler? What model is it?

Regards
