I have managed to pull a tuner ROM from my PPD Siemens ECU and using a combination of knowledge gained regarding map locations and conversion in PPDMaps (although the X/Y Axis were reveresed in the PPD Maps) and using Tuner Pro I  have managed to locate all the important maps and create a TunerPro XDF file.
There are a couple of things I would like to try to smooth out the Tuner ROM but I am a little nervous about editing it and using MPPS to Re-Flash.

Are there any checksum changes or checksum verification requirements for the Siemen ECU when a ROM is edited,  or is this only used on earlier VAG ECU's.

Therefore, as per title. Has anyone managed to edit a Siemens ROM and reflash successfully with MPPS.

Cheers

There is a checksum yes but it is automatically corrected by MPPS upon writing to the ECU. You will get a message in the log stating as such.

I flashed using version 16 I think and there are a couple of things to look out for. First is that that MPPS will fail after writing a couple of percent to the ECU, dont panic. Turn the ignition off and back on, restart MPPS and go again. It will work the second time around, you will notice all the gear indicators on the dash will be flashing. The second is that the radiator fan will start running full pelt when you are flashing the ECU, you might want to pull the fuse for it. A lot of people say to put a charger on the battery to keep the voltage steady but I haven't found it necessary, although I have a BDM flasher on hand so I wasn't super worried.

I've flashed my Golf GT TDI (PPD 170) probably 20 times or more using MPPS so yeah you should be fine. PS I wouldn't mind a look at the bin you pulled, send it to my email if you don't mind.

Hi ! I just stumbled upon this topic.

First, i would like to say thx for PPDMaps ;)

Second, just for future visitors, looking for PPD+MPPs flashing info:

I shit my pants (nearly) at the first time i flashed using Mpps - as jazdw said, its highly possible that first flash fails, leaving you behind with a flashing dash. I tried 3 times and it happened 2 of 3 times. But you can savely reflash, full running radiator also included ;)

jazdw, you have same car as i do and you did a great work with your software. I actualy got a tuning file on my ecu that i received for free.

I did some changes, added some more tweaks but unsure if its safe to flash. Posted my file at 2 boards but ECU tuning community sucks hard ;(

You get no answer or just some mindless junk of words thrown together in a language thats not even close to english.

May i ask you if want to take a look at the file ?

Haha I feel your pain regarding the forums and the broken English speakers. Most do not even attempt to fix their English up a bit and make it semi-comprehensible ;)

Yeah sure, wouldn't hurt to compare it to mine. Post it up here or send it to me in a private email if you prefer. Do you still have a DPF and EGR?

Hello jazdw,

I got similar question to this topic. Should I be worried if winols do not see any checksum block for mpps read (I got mpps v16)? You wrote that you got issues with first writes, but after couple tries (i.e ignition off then on and mpps restart) it succeed. So its possible that maps area is not protected with checksum? On bosch ecu's if that will be happen only bench work can save it.

please help.

regards Mirek

There is definitely a checksum for the maps. It is automatically corrected by MPPS upon writing if its not correct.

Thanks for replay. I will do my try and I will let you know how it goes. I got seat leon 2007 on 03G906018DK software of my colleague, ecu was modded by someone and boost control is not doing well (boost quickly drop from 2550mbar after 3000 rpm http://vaglog.pl/log_222122.html, http://vaglog.pl/log_222119.html, http://vaglog.pl/log_222120.html so the car smoke till to high rpm, not excessive but certain amount of the smoke (black colored) is clearly visible on WOT). Ecu got "NO READ" protection so first i need to squeeze the memory dump of mpps process and extract the the mod file. I got on for bench work an old edc15p+ to play-test with "no read" protection. Mpps rather keep ecu file copy in same heap (ram memory location) for all ecu that it support, right?

Hello everyone,

first: i´m another broken english speaker... but i try my best...

i have a china mpps v16 and im trying to delete the dpf on my dads 2006 Touran (BMN, no DSG, full DPF:( )

orignal *.bin from MPPS read:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6wjlrhs4m9cg9pt/03G906018DB.Bin?dl=0

but i have no usable editing software... Winols is useless as demo version and PPDmaps needs a BDM read.

i have managed to get a DPF off file but i don´t trust it.

(dpf off: https://www.dropbox.com/s/72hoj0695cf25nw/03G906018DBDPF.Bin?dl=0 )

what will happen if the file is not okay? most of it should be the same... i´m very scared to brick the ecu with a wrong flash file.

it would be great if you can send me the xdf file for the ppd ecu...

but anyhow great work@ jazdw for ppd maps... thanks

Can't remember exactly what it was coz it was a couple of months ago the last time I tried. Il have another play later on and poat a more accurte description if u guys could maybe help me out a litle thatd be great :)
