Gentlemen,

As discussed earlier today, and as previously mentioned in the past, we ideally would like to create a schedule for posting, so as to avoid a time where we flood the site with posts at one time and not have fresh content at other times.

The following link will take you to a post schedule I drafted as a rudimentary means of keeping everyone organized. You should all have access to it, but if you don't clicking on the link should prompt you to ask for permission to do so.

Please take a moment and fill out what days work best for you to post, with the hopes of trying to fill in every available time slot. Keep in mind, as an editor, I have the responsibility to post once for every calendar day of the month, so my posts may fill one of the slots, but may also come at other varying times when news breaks.

Thank you,
Kyle Franzoni
Editor - Jays Journal

In retrospect, what I've done is fill in the schedule for tomorrow, which will show when posts are set to go live.

Ideally, this may be the better way to go. If its not a time sensitive piece that is.

Hi Kyle do you have any preferences on when the live game thread goes up? I feel that 6pm is too late for it to maximize traffic if we are trying to grow this feature... I would say 4pm at the latest I like that people can start the discussion in the afternoon.

I would agree that 4:00 works best for night games and 2 hours prior for afternoon games. This way it has time to be linked and spread, but doesn't get buried by any new posts.

Additionally, I'd like to propose that any new posts published while the game thread is active not be tagged as "FEATURED" unless it is a piece of breaking news. This way, the thread gets a chance to thrive while the game is active and it is the first that grabs incoming direct visits during the game.

I believe that this, once it catches on, will be a big boon to garnering a larger, repeat audience. Couple our improv insight with our knowledge of the team and its system, and we have a winning recipe.

Does everyone agree with this sentiment?

i'm good with that - so just to confirm if we don't tag as featured it won't appear in the main frame?

Correct. Still use "Popular" and it will appear just to the right. Again though, only during an active game thread time. If the post can be scheduled for afterward or for early the next morning, that may be better.

Will make sure to do that.

On a separate note, been really busy with work so looking to do a post in the next few days and then another on the weekend. Was thinking of bringing the NHL playoffs into the fold seeing how it's taken a lot of attention off of the Blue Jays (despite the insane comeback last night!)

Was going to examine the attendance at Blue Jays games and determine whether ownership should be doing more to attract fans with special deals or offerings, likely concluding that the team does not do enough. I know that Sports Illustrated did a survey of teams across the league and $20 gets you the least amount of food + beer in Toronto than any other city. Maybe compare the Mariners who go to great lengths with promotions to make their games fun and keep fans coming in, including selling craft beers at the park. (too bad we don't have toonie Tuesdays anymore, eh?)

Let me know if any of you know of any cool promotions or ideas that are happening across the league with other teams.

Good points Mike, but I think it's the playoffs combined with the Leafs playoff futility ending, hockey being Canada's national game of choice and the fact the Blue Jays haven't been that good so far... All of that probably means no matter what Jays ownership does, they'll have a happy turnout at games. The Jays also aren't exactly playing teams of interest. I think more people showed up to watch the AAA PawSox play Durham yesterday than they did Rays-Blue Jays last night. Teams like the Mariners and Rays just don't have that kind of following.

I'd check out the Giants promotions too, they've had some good ones so far this year (replica World Series Rings Day; Sergio Romo Gnome Day this past Sunday)

Despite the result being a W last night I'm thinking of doing a piece comparing Buehrle  money owed and performance and such VS Vernon Wells contract and all that sort of fun stuff, see how savvy the ninja really is

I was going to try something similar, sorta a 'how can we get rid of Buehrle' piece and compare it to the Wells trade.  Not sure of my time constraints though.  Once yours is published will see if mine brings anything new before deciding whether to write or not.

Maybe the answer there would be a piece on how to fix Buehrle, instead of dumping him. Just another option at Point-Countertpoint.

Hey guys,

Just want to say that the site is looking good today. We had the Minor Legue Report at 7 as per usual, my post hit at 10am, Kyle provided an update on JA Happ at 12,  Alex's piece is scheduled to drop at 2pm and then the Game Thread scheduled at 4. Providing our insight/analysis/opinion all spread out throughout the day makes the site look professional and makes us more of a destination for Jays fans everywhere.

I have written a short piece looking at adding Kevlar inserts to pitching caps after seeing the toll it took on J.A. Happ.
Seeing as the issue is a hot-button topic I have scheduled it to go up at 1PM, in between Kyle and Alex's posts as to not overlap.
I'm very upset with Major League baseball and its insistence to only change the rules in favor of player safety after the most dire of consequences.

Afternoon gents... to my Canadian friends, hope you are enjoying your day off... to those of you south of the border that are required to do "real world" things today, I wish I could say I felt bad for you but I don't. You get enough days off celebrating all those dead white guys...

Anyways just wanted to let you know what I have on the agenda... in the next couple of days I hope to drop a piece on Hutchison using similar methodology to my piece on Drabek... might call it "Hungry for Hutchison" or something like that.

After that I'm going to move to the minor-league players... I'm debating whether or not I'm going to brand it as a series or not... I think I will probably just keep with the theme of using names connected to the desire to see them in a Blue Jays uniform eventually, like the way I did with Hutch and Drabek

I'm hoping to start with Stroman then Nolin as AA recently said they are debating bringing them up for September. After that I hope to cover Norris, Davis, Sanchez Jimenez and Burns. I might skip Smoral since BBB had a headline article about him recently. For Osuna I'm debating putting something up but it would be more as an injury update since Shi announced he did go under the knife but since that will be dated by the time I get to it and there's not much new on him probably leave him out as well.

I'm going to link back to any profiles we have on the top prospects list so hopefully that will help pick us up some extra page views.

If anyone has any suggestions on players to cover or anything else in general please let me know. And heads up to Jay and Charlie I might be bugging the crap out of you guys the next couple weeks!

Anyways boys enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Wray

Hey guys,

I totally spaced out on the Morning Brew this morning, and now have no time to do it. If anyone has something ready to go, let it fly.

I just dropped my player review for Josh Johnson, but you could publish any time now if you wish.

No Morning Brew this morning, as there was just no links to post this morning outside of stuff that had already been reported or written about. I move Alex's review up earlier in the day to cover the slot.

No worries, I stole most of the good stories on Thursday so the cupboard pretty bare. I'll give your Johnson post some room to breathe... might try a 7PM post or could save it for tomorrow morning haven't decided yet...

I am open to topics. Was thinking of addressing the outfield situation going into the off season.  Does that work or am I beating a dead horse?

If we haven't covered it, then it isn't a dead horse. That's my opinion. If you have a voice to lend to a particular store, then jump right in.
