Hello Everyone,

Apologies for the late thread. We are currently sitting at 51 articles on the month and looking to target the 80-85 article mark for the month. Canada Day is coming up and so is the MLB Draft, the All-Star game, and the trade deadline. Lots of different viewpoints and articles. Just remember something you may right now has the potential to capture audiences down the line if it ranks well with the SEO and hits the topic (especially with the draft).

Here are some topics to get you started if you anybody wants to tackle:

1. Positions/players the Blue Jays should avoid at the trade deadline
2. Which left-handed bat should the Jays persue (rank them)
3. Ranking which Jays players have the best chance of making the All Star game
4. Could the Jays trade Cavan Biggio?
5. Looking ahead to free agency this offseason
6. Where the current trajectory has the Jays in the 2022 playoff picture
7. One prospect from each affiliate team to watch this season
8. Ranking Ross Atkin's trade deadlines since becoming GM
9. How should the Blue Jays balance three catchers once Jansen returns?
10. Should Teoscar Hernandez keep hitting in the 5th spot?

Sure Miguel. This would do well in a slideshow format and I’d recommend tackling each year individually

Hey, I was thinking about writing a piece taking a look at some relivers the Jays could look into trading for. Right now I'm looking at guys like Daniel Bard, Scott Barlow, and David Bednar, but I'm sure I'll add more. Let me know what you think.

Hey Henry, good idea.

Would encourage you to do a rankings type slideshow if possible, just to provide a bit of a different angle. As well, give Charles article a read about the trade deadline preview as well just to avoid too much overlap.

Can I do a ranking of the worst contracts under Shapiro and Atkins?  All of which offset the Semien and Ray one year steals?

1. Tough call - Springer or Ryu?
3. Grinch
4. Roark
5. Bautista or Estrada extensions?
7. Jaime García
8. Trading for the 8.5 million option on Chase Anderson and then buying him out for $500K?
9. Matt Shoemaker
10. Shun Yamaguchi
11. Kirby Yates
12. Tyler Chatwood

Any glaring omissions?

I’m amazed they get a pass on these bad deals given all the grief over the Tulo and Martin salaries!

And those two guys helped lead the team to back-to-back ALCS appearances.

None of the guys on my list below have featured in a single playoff win.

I don’t get it.

Love it Charles!
Great idea. To Tyson’s comment, I did a shatkins piece (Top 5 worst moves of 2021) and yes, there were a few anonymous dumpster trolls with dumb comments (who didn’t actually read the piece), but I believe the numbers it generated were also well above average…

In my opinion Toronto needs more objective independent sports media coverage (like your suggested article).
My two cents - happy Friday all :D

Unfortunately that happens a bit too much, people read the title and don’t actually dive into what the journalist is covering. I’ve had my fair shar r TB ate for sure (a lot of people did not want to move Bo from the two-spot I will tell you that much).

Totally agree that Toronto needs more objective independent sports media coverage… the press in Boston, New York and Philadelphia rips their teams, coaches, front office when they don’t make the playoffs or play poorly.

Here, all we get is the positive spin from Sportsnet and everyone else who is apparently too scared of Rogers “cutting them off” and other such repercussions.

I can tell you, if this team doesn’t advance deep in to the playoffs this year, the coverage should be calling for firings.

Will it? Probably not.

As for the trolls, they live in dank basements, so who cares what they think?!

We have to walk a fine line with Fansided and the Blue Jays sometimes. Most of you haven't been around long enough to have any idea of the history between the company and the Blue Jays, but we've had to do things like change our logo, and a few procedural things to make sure we toe the line. I've been here seven years now, so if I'm sharing advice with any of you, it comes from experience.

No one is "scared" of Rogers, it's just how you do proper business. You can find literally hundreds of articles from Jays Journal that criticize Montoyo, Atkins, etc, so it's not about being afraid or unable to criticize what's going on either. There's a right way to do things, and a wrong way.

As for the trolls, Tyson and I throw out that warning because the internet jerks of the world can spoil the fun for writers, and we hate seeing that happen. We've had several writers quit over the years after being attacked, so we try to gently protect you all from that. Also, it's a subtle way of saying "I don't know if that's a good idea".

So to summarize, no one is "afraid" of Rogers around here, but in our position with Fansided and their policies, we have to do things a certain way. If that's a problem for any of you, then perhaps a bigger and more direct discussion needs to be had.
