Hey gang, just figured I'd get a fresh thread started here.

Does anyone else want to throw their two cents in on this Hall of Fame ballot? Let me know, as I'm going to put it together tomorrow. Would love to have a few more opinions to throw in there, even if it's just your vote and no text.

Other than that, I hope you're all safe, happy, and healthy, and as always please let Tyson and I know if we can help with anything!

Hey gang!

I haven’t written a while, and I was hoping to write a piece where I outline some bold predictions for the upcoming season.

Let me know if that’s cool!

Feel free Travis, but maybe come up with a different title than "bold predictions". I did one of those last week and David also did a review of my bold predictions from 2021, so try to avoid that phrase if you can haha. Otherwise feel free to make all of the predictions you want!

Hey all,

Was thinking of doing a piece highlighting the importance of Corey Dickerson role last season and why the Jays should look to keep a player like him on their roster again this season.  Will also provide a couple options to fill that role.

Let me know what you think

Hey Chris and Tyson, I started by article on Bo being a top 10 shortstop and it’s just not coming out how I want. Is it possible to transition to my other idea of comparing the start of the blue jays rebuild (2018) to now? Kind of a how we got here article/slide show format. Thanks

Hello everyone,

Hope all is well.

Since it’s challenging to keep things going during this lockout, was thinking of an idea that would take if not all, most to participate.  We could put together a Jays Journal Top 5 Blue Jays all-time at each position.

Everyone would submit their own votes, and we could use a point system, 5 for 1st, 4 for 2nd and so on.  Everyone can use their own reasonings/judgement to rank however you please.  No writing, just rank.

Once votes submitted, we’ll work out the rankings based on points system and let everyone know what the top 5 at each position as a group are. From there, we can submit an article a day on a position with the Jays Journal writers rankings.

This is definitely a collaborative project since it’s a lot of info, so we can work something out where multiple people are given a position(s) and your article consists of a snippet on each of the five players.

Reply if you’re interested and based on numbers we can decide whether to proceed.  If it’s a go, I imagine it’s going to take at least a few weeks to put it together which would run the articles leading up to the “wishful” start of spring training.

I'm definitely in to help with that Frank! Once we get an idea of how many others would submit their rankings then maybe you can pick a position to start with and go from there with each individual article. Great idea, and I hope most of you will find time to shoot Frank a top 5 ranking as you're able and as we go through the positions.

Evening All,

I hope you are doing well.

I know the offseason has been a little bit slow and ideas may be tough to come by at the time but there are still lots of ideas that we can cover that may require just a bit more investigation and analysis instead of breaking news. Top five/ten lists, projections for specific things in 2022, etc etc. A few ideas off the top of my head:

1. Three prospects who did not work out from when Ross Atkins traded veterans back during the rebuild
2. Looking at former Jays prospects who are currently MiLB free agents
3. Hypothetical trade scenarios for Jose Ramirez, or Matt Chapman, or a Marlins starting pitcher

One thing I do want to touch on is ensuring you stay active on the site. Fansided has a policy where 2+ months of inactivity can get you locked out from your account, which can suck if you were pumped to write something and then find out you cannot log in. This is unfortunately one of their rules that we can't really bend or move, so while we do understand that things can get busy and crazy, if you get locked out of your account you will have to reapply similar to how you joined the site. Just wanted to ensure everybody was aware.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Chris or myself if you have any questions or concerns. JJ usually pushes roughly 100 articles a month December saw us reach about 55, so let's get back into the groove and start off strong in January.

Good morning,

I’ve been quiet for awhile but it looks like a deal could be reached soon which is encouraging. I’m hoping to write something along the lines of what the Jays next move should be once things resume, exploring a few options. Fairly obvious I know but let me know if it’s ok.

Thanks and I hope everyone is doing well!

Hey, was looking at writing an article to kind of talks about Snider retirement and why I would be all in on Jose Ramirez.  Basically talking about how you never know how prospects will turn out.  I'll spin on other big trades the team has done where they moved top prospects who never panned out.

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.

I know topics are tough to come by right now, so I have added a list below of some off the top of my head that you are more than welcome to write on. Our goal is to hit 100 articles a month, and right now we are sitting at almost 30, so let's get on the high horse and get some quality content out.

The analytics is saying that slideshow pieces are hitting the best right now, as fans are looking for unique content while the lockout is going on. These can do very well for both you and the site, the only drawback being they usually require more time and effort. The more pages, the more opportunity to benefit in viewership. This is not forced by any means but is information I wanted you all to be aware of.

If you do choose to write on an idea below, please just call it out for fairness of everyone in the group chat (and if nobody claims the idea after a while I may circle back and write on it as well). If you want to take the bones of an idea and expand it in any way, go for it as well!

Research required (most likely fit for slideshows):
- Highest drafted (late rounds) Blue Jays prospects to make the active roster (drafted by a certain GM, history, feel free to expand)
- 3/5/7/10 Blue Jays prospects looking to breakout next season (can make it based on position if you want)
- Looking at the 2021 drafted prospects and how they finished out the campaign
- Five biggest draft busts under former GM Alex Anthopolous or current GM Ross Atkins
- How the prospects from the veteran rebuild trades turned out
- Former prospects who are currently MiLB free agents
- Free agents from rival AL East teams who could fit with the Blue Jays
- 3/5 of the worst contracts given out by AA or Ross Atkins
- 3/5 of the best or worst trades under AA or Ross Atkins
- Projecting the 2022 opening day roster
- 3/5 players on the roster bubble for 2022
- Ranking the free agents the Blue Jays should go after once the CBA is in place
- Trade packages for Randal Grichuk

Opinion Pieces (varied opinions can lead to topics being covered more than once):

1. Ranking Marlins starting pitchers who fit the Blue Jays
2. Ranking Athletics starting pitchers who fit the Blue Jays
3. Remaining free relief pitchers who could work on Blue Jays
4. Relief pitchers the club could trade for
5. Who should back up Vladdy at first base this season?
6. Looking at Fangraphs Steamer projections for the lineup in 2022
7. Blockbuster trade scenarios using the Baseball Trade Evaluator
8. Former Blue Jays that are currently on the HOF ballot and where they stand
9. Next Blue Jays who are eligible for the HOF ballot and their chances
10. Overview of Abdiel Mendoza, selected in the Rule 5 MiLB draft by the Blue Jays
11. How the lockout is impacting the Blue Jays (players cannot train at Dunedin, signing players, trading)

As you can see, lots of topics out there, we just have to think outside the box and not so much on the breaking news right now. As always, feel free to pitch your ideas and lets keep on going strong!
