Hi Everybody!
I'd like to start off saying that I am honored to
be the new President of the LUG, I appreciate your confidence in me and
we will do great things together.
Now for a few pieces of LUG News:
By popular demand, we now have a Meetup site:
http://www.meetup.com/JaxLug-Jacksonville-Linux-User-Group/Head there and join the group, RSVP for events, and see our schedule in a nice calendar format.
RSVP/signup
is by no means required, but it helps us keep track and prepare for how
many people will be coming to events, as well as bring a larger
audience to the lug.
We are planning the second, of a continuing
series of LUG-LANs where experts, noobs, and everyone in-between can
hook up and play with linux and encompassing packages. We are currently
looking for a new venue for this, preferably one that is: free, has
internet, has power, allows food/drink, lets us set up for an extended
time (to the order of 12+ hours) and is preferably somewhat private (so
we don't disturb others, or have people/music overpowering us such as a restaurant/bar). If you
have any suggestions or have a venue to share please feel free to respond to the group, or
contact me directly.
We are also working on getting the wiki hosted in-town, updated and filled with content. A big thanks goes to Jess Hires for working so diligently on the wiki and server as well as GoRack for graciously hosting our group in their wonderful downtown Jacksonville datacenter!
