Hi Everyone!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting this month.  I will be presenting on how to make a raspberry pi router that fits in your pocket!  This will involve building a firewall, router, access point, dns/dhcp server and services host that runs on a raspberry pi (or other computer for that matter).  These lil guys are useful for taking to events, making portable lans, or even having a network when you have a hurricane go through and wreck your internet and power connections.

Come on down, hang out, and learn something!

Hope to see you there!

Can we use it as a VPN, so we can use a Chromecast in a hotel room (wifi)?

You could certainly set up a vpn with it and route through it, this is a full service linux router.  That is not currently covered in the material I have prepared but we will see if I can stick something in there about doing that.

Setting up something like this would enable you to have a single point of entry (IE hotel wireless) and then have a private lan at your hotel room that you could add your chromecast and such to, yes.
