After wandering around for the last couple of decades I've moved back to Jacksonville.  Are there any good PC parts stores around anymore?   I had been in Atlanta where I was blessed with a Microcenter.  Doesn't seem like there is anything like that here anymore.

Going to do my best to start attending meetings again now that we're settled in.

Daniel!!! Welcome back!

Unfortunately I don't know of any!  After CompUSA closed nothing has popped up to take its place.

Welcome back and yeah... Our PC parts situation is a bit rough since CompUSA/Tiger Direct shutdown.  I personally mostly shop online if I'm doing a build and turnaround isn't important and want new parts.

As for the "I need this right now", it depends on if you need it new or if you're okay with used parts from a recycler.  Personally, I like to try my luck with used stuff from the recycler when possible.

My usual getting spot for used parts is Sensible Recycling (https://sensiblerecycling.com/) on A.C. Skinner.  It's veteran own, offers free physical hard drive shredding, and they get some unique stock in from time to time as both consumers and corporations drop stuff off there, so server racks and KVMs and industrial equipment shows up from time to time, but it's always a dice roll if they have what you need.  They have a secondary business called ReuseIT (https://www.reuseitjax.com/) that offers to sell those items they deem still have life in them.  Though they are turning that more to eBay now and trying to to run a repair shop in the physical space, they still have some items on the floor. The eBay store shipped a few items to me for free, but that breaks the "I need it now".  I do believe you can do physical pick after buying it on eBay, but I may be misremembering.  Either way, sometimes stopping in or calling might get you what you need.  I believe there are a few other recyclers in Jax as well, this is just the one I use.

As for new, Best Buy has a VERY limited selection of high end gaming parts; RAM, CPUs, GPUs, fans, PSU, and most important for me in the "I need it now and new" category - thermal paste and coolers. They also carry your usual limited selection of hard drives and SSDs.  However, it's a "beggars can't be choosey" sort of deal compared to MicroCenter.  I also find there isn't much in the way of normal economical parts in terms of you just need basic RAM to fix a workstation, so you'd have to go with high end RAM targeting the gamer market, and pay that price.

Hope this helps,

Not really for anything new, Tho there are a few recyclers that have some decent things. But its all usually a few years out of date. Ive been ordering online.

Down in Mandarin there's a "Computer and Phone Store". I used to buy some stuff there, although their selection was slim and mostly oriented towards gaming systems. I think it got a new owner, so call before making a long journey.

Mostly I get stuff via EBay and NewEgg. EBay has direct vendor stores for suppliers like Jameco and Digi-Key, although they're electronic parts houses and not a good source for inexpensive computer items.

I think EBay has been promoting refurbs lately and I'm a fan of those, since as a rule I can expect them to have been more thoroughly checked out than stuff straight off the assembly line. I can get most items in less than a week and I keep spares anyway.
