Bank Simpanan Nasional Malaysia ditubuhkan pada 1hb. Disember 1974, di bawah Akta Parlimen 146 – Undang-Undang Malaysia 1974. Ia dilancar dengan rasminya pada 5 Disember 1974 oleh Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak, Perdana Menteri Malaysia yang kedua.Dengan tertubuhnya Bank Simpanan Nasional, terbuka satu babak baru dalam sejarah institusi simpanan awam di negara ini. Akta Bank Simpanan Nasional, 1974 memperuntukkan pemindahan kuasa pengurusan daripada Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pos kepada Lembaga Pengarah yang mengambil alih fungsi dan tanggungjawab mengikut matlamat Akta itu.
Bank Simpanan Nasional mempelawa Warganegara Malaysia yang berkelayakan untuk mengisi kekosongan jawatan seperti berikut :-
